A mouthwatering clash of champions league-chasing heavyweights.

But enough about Bournemouth v City. Let's switch focus to Villa v Liverpool

I think Villa use this as a warm up for their final. Win this, secure cl then they can focus on a trophy then the game v city becomes irrelevant for them.

I think slot won’t really care. We’ll get the same passive style and rely on the last home game to get us there.

Palace and Chelsea were resting too

As were the lads we had on the pitch.

Its a tricky one for Villa. This game is 5 days before their final and they would want to rest their big players but the game after is City away, 4 days after the final, when City could be chasing the league. They probably have to go for it against Liverpool.

It’s just irrelevant at this stage what challenges or context an opponent has against Liverpool. Two teams in historically bad form have come to Anfield recently and left with points. We’re an absolute pushover.

when we last played in the Europa final we put out this side in the league game immediately before it

Bogdan, Skrtel, Smith, Flanagan, Leiva (c), Allen, Branagan, Ibe, Ojo, Stewart, Benteke

Yep I agree with this. If they lose this they're relying on other results to guarantee a finish in the top five

Emery may well decide to go all in on qualification via the Europa over the league but we did that in 15 and ended up with neither

Also they can knock us out of next years CL before it starts is a carrot as well.

Arsenal just need one more win as well so City will know before Bournemouth game. We might just have to beat Brentford.

How we are still fourth is a travesty and a mystery tbh

We don’t deserve it. I think on the whole it’s been the worst season of football since 93/94 or 97/98.

Nah they're on 79 and City can still get to 83

Saw an interesting piece on the internet the other day that there's a scenario where Brentford may actually need to lose to us on the final day to keep Villa in fifth place... thus ensuring they qualify for the Champions League in sixth place.

Or I may have just had too much cheese 🤷🏼‍♂️

Brentford will only be able to get to 54 points which wouldn't put them above Bournemouth

I think it was the cheese

There defo was a scenario for that to be a thing at some point. Not sure if it's changed now with recent results though.
