Thought it’d be good to keep tabs on this through the season. See if it all ‘evens itself out’ in the end.

So - Are we in agreement we got stiffed by Taylor/Oliver over the Handball/DOGSO/ :redcard:   last night?

For me

1) it’s clearly as deliberate a handball as you can get - he swipes at the ball, ffs.

2) yes , it’s halfway line and Ekitike hasn’t touched/got control of the ball BUT his next touch takes him clean through on goal. The defender knows that which is why he flicks it away with his hand.

i think we’re 1 down for the season

(Taylor was largely useless for most of the night, I thought - but the pair of them  got that one wrong and it was a biggie)

The thing for me is they didn’t even act upon it, probably because it was a certain red card if they do.

This is the problem with VAR, it’s biased because the people behind it are. It was blatant but the severity of the situation colours the decision, meaning it can’t be used in an objective way (other than offsides).

Yeah exactly that. It was obvious what happened but the subjective element of whether it was a genuine goalscoring chance given it was on the half way line meant they deemed a red card harsh.

I'm fine with it if that's applied consistently, sure it will be like, these lads are on it.....

It was proper incompetence followed up by outright lying. They can f*** off. Just say “We got that wrong”.

Thank goodness Carra broke ranks and said what was actually coming through the feed.

Absolutely no defender is getting back to stop Ekitike

" Bounced off his knee and had no time to react "

He swiped at the f***ing ball !!

Yeah - the deliberate misrepresentation of events, citing the inadvertent contact on his elbow after it hit his knee and ignoring the blatant, deliberate swipe at the ball afterwards to knock it away is staggering

There have been occasions when they've focused on the wrong moment during a replay and this might be one of them but I don't see how three ( ? ) supposedly top class officials watch that replay and don't notice the second moment - the intentional change in direction of the arm to make contact with the ball

I couldn't hear Carragher mention what was said by the officials, just the commentator give their reasoning

Did I see in the game thread that someone alluded to VAR admitting they'd got it wrong a bit later in the game?

That's wild if so.

One game in and they’ll struggle to do worse than that. An actual deliberate handball! f***ing wild.

What did they lie about? Can’t be arsed with pre or post game chat anymore.

Didn't think I imagined it 🙂

What did they say @Barnesy_10? I missed it

Carra calling out that ludicrous analysis of the handball was the one thing he got right

it was a clear red all day long

even if you don’t think it was a DOGSO you book him and give a free kick

The ridiculous thing is that VAR can't advise the ref unless it's a red-card offence. So even if they'd thought that - which they didn't 'cos they're f***ing useless - they're not allowed to say so 🤦🏻‍♂️

Yep. - I keep beating this drum but in rugby where the officials ask to look back at the replay, discuss - out loud - with the listening public hearing it all, they tend not to make these ridiculous fuxk ups

Same.

That they won't even consider allowing the TV companies to broadcast VAR discussions in real time is a clear indicator that they know how s***e they are at this

IFAB said it would be too chaotic, which just about says it all.

Even if they agreed to post unedited clips of all VAR-referred decisions afterwards it would be a step forward in transparency

What we'll have now is Howard Webb going on that crap Sky programme in a week or so and saying "yeah we messed up but you can't expect our highly trained officials with access to infinite camera angles to pick everything up. Besides, it wasn't a DOGSO so it really didn't matter. LOLz".

What is the literal point of VAR. I have loads of time for errors (humans) and inconsistencies as a load of stuff is debatable and nothing is identical. All they had to do was watch it.

And then the lying. They f***ing lied after it. f*** off!

They would rather throw their integrity out the window 15 minutes into the season than make an easy call that gives Liverpool an advantage.

c****.

Yeah, it's Oliver again. Like when Pickford took Virgil out, he was focusing on the wrong part of that incident

But that doesn't explain all the VAR officials agreeing, although they're probably worried about seniority

They're just not fit for purpose and it's worse since Webb took charge.
