Conrad Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Assuming the Houllier thread isn't the match thread.... Right, any team news? First time we've been without both Gerrard and Carragher since 07 when we beat Derby 6-0.Villa are poor, Houllier has managed only one win in about 9, so this should be three points given our decent home form. Hoping for Reina (Capt) Johnson Skertl Greek Aurelio Meireles Lucas Kuyt Cole Maxi Torres
psl Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Young is suspended for them isn't he? 0-1 Pires 89
Conrad Posted December 6, 2010 Author Posted December 6, 2010 Young is suspended for them isn't he? 0-1 Pires 89 Young is out, yes. Really can't see anything other than a home win tonight
Stevie H Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 liverpool 2 (meireles 29', kyrgiakos 71') - 2 aston villa (morley 43', mcnaught 85')

Hoping for Reina (Capt) Johnson Skertl Greek Aurelio Meireles Lucas Kuyt Cole Maxi Torres I like that 11, but with Kuyt up front, Maxi right, and Cole left. I suspect that. in light of Cole's fragile comeback from injury, that he will be benched and that it will the team you've picked but with Ngog upfront alongside Torres. I think it was telling that Ngog didn't start in Bucharest. Aurelio may well be preserved too.
Red Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Lose this and he really should go. Fortunately for him (and especially if he picks the side mentioned above), I think we'll be too much for them.. For the first 45 minutes anyway.
Bailo Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Can't see us losing. My money would be on 0-0 or 1-1, think we'll sneak it though.
Superjay Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Somehow i think we'll win this 2-0. That being said I went for us to beat spurs 2-0 last week.
sean Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 pretty nasty out there, could be called off? Oh give over, it's Monday and I need something to look to later.
ManxRed Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 I'll be overjoyed with a point here. It really has got that bad.
_00_deathscar Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 I'll be overjoyed with a point here. It really has got that bad. We're at home right? We'll do okay.
DanielS Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 I'll be overjoyed with a point here. It really has got that bad. We're at home. We'll win. Everything will be rosey again. Until the next away game. That will be the pattern of our season. Never being able to build up a head of steam against the Manager because he'll have home victories to split the derisory away performances. All hail mid-table mediocrity.
Conrad Posted December 6, 2010 Author Posted December 6, 2010 I'll be overjoyed with a point here. It really has got that bad. It really hasn't - our home form is ok
Bliki Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Play Babel as a striker with Torres in december in if that does not work for him then sell him in january. For me his best position is up front. So I want him in the team tonight.
Gomez Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 I'll be overjoyed with a point here. It really has got that bad. I won't be overjoyed with anything. That's my biggest problem with RH, he's taken all the fun out of it. It's not that I feel a win will keep him in a job longer because we are well past the stage where he is one defeat from the sack, it's just that you know no matter how good the win, or even how good the performance (and lets be honest, they are never THAT good despite what he says), the next humiliating defeat is only days away. A good win used to give optimism that a run of bad form was over, we were always capable of going on a good solid winning streak. I'd love to think that putting a few past Villa could be the start of a 10 match sequence that could see us get right back into the mix for 4th. But I would have to be a complete and utter idiot to believe that given the evidence of this season. He is just not capable of that kind of run. It really hasn't - our home form is ok Thank f*ck for that! I had this really bad dream about Blackpool and Northampton, but I won't burden you with it.

_00_deathscar Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Thank f*ck for that! I had this really bad dream about Blackpool and Northampton, but I won't burden you with it. Northampton wasn't in the league, and I think he means that whilst it clearly isn't mind blowingly superb, we'll obviously pick up a decent-ish amount of points at home. We've currently won 4, drawn 2 and lost 1. That isn't great by any means, but it's also not disastrous (relative to our away form obviously).

I guess it's all relative, but I refuse to accept the lowering of expectations. I guess OK has a different definition to what it had a season or so ago. Any run of form that has defeats to Northampton and Blackpool in it, and a draw to Sunderland, can only be described as bad. And form implies performance not just results, and our performances have been pretty appalling even in matches we've won.

In fact if you count Northampton, we've won exactly half. Yeah, home banker tonight, deffo.
