Both the Times (Tony Barratt) & the Telegraph are reporting the following comments by Rafa, probably in his press conference yesterday:

 

“We signed three players and we wanted four. We brought Voronin back and signed another centre back. A good signing could have been really important"

This is the first time I've seen him say anything that refers to the much discussed problems in the last transfer window.

 

Contrasts with Purslow's comments a couple of months ago:

 

“We’ve spent about £20 million more than we’ve generated, which is what we expected. We’ve bought players the manager wanted to buy and sold players the manager wanted to sell and it has cost us almost to the penny what we expected it to cost. We were told he had 20m net before the summer began and that he enquired after Turner indicates he was under the impression he certainly had more than 1.5m to spend.
