Spirit Of Shankly Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 Information about tomorrow's EGM has been posted on our site; http://www.spiritofshankly.com/news/Spirit...ember-2009.html The meeting will commence at 11.30am.
The Hitman Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 Looks good.Shouldn't be too hard to get at Moores,as he goes the game we should literally be able to make his place untenable.Anything directed at him would surely get the attention of the media.
Gomez Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 Looks good.Shouldn't be too hard to get at Moores,as he goes the game we should literally be able to make his place untenable.Anything directed at him would surely get the attention of the media. Still think the energies expended at protesting at David Moores would be much better spend being directed at Purslow. Having a go at Moores is futile, removing him from his powerless position would please G&H if anything, rather than annoy the f**k out of them like having to replace Purslow would.
The Hitman Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 Would get more coverage than having a go at the CEO,I reckon. And coverage is surely what we're after here.
magneto Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 I think Moore realises that he and Parry f***ed up royally. The man's not well, don't see any point having a go at him.
The Hitman Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 But still has the nerve to turn up to the games for free, and get wined and dined on the club.Akin to Fred Goodwin getting invited to the RBS Christmas do.
Gomez Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 But still has the nerve to turn up to the games for free, and get wined and dined on the club.Akin to Fred Goodwin getting invited to the RBS Christmas do. No it isn't
The Hitman Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 (edited) Why not?Bearing in mind that was a pithy, throwaway remark-where's the difference? Edited September 11, 2009 by The Hitman
Gomez Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 Surely the presser for the new shirt sponsor would the ideal event for a protest?a blockade of the entrances to where-ever the presser is being held? delaying it. stopping the media getting there?
Sion Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 (edited) Attacking Moores is an absolutey terrible idea. What the hell is that going to achieve? He's a nobody now. Talk about wasted energy/effort. Edited September 11, 2009 by Sion
richwilks Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 Attacking Moores is an absolutey terrible idea. What the hell is that going to achieve? He's a nobody now. Talk about wasted energy/effort. Spot on. The thought of it is crazy. I'm sure in his own mind he was acting in the best interests of the club when he sold it, it has turned out s*** but targetting him is ridiculous and will have zero affect on the Yanks. The only coverage it will get will be bad press.
Falconhoof Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 as Moores is 4th item down, its not worth arguing the toss over. There's plenty of things in that plan of action to get behind and its great that SOS are going to mount a continuous campaign - "Hicks & Gillett - You're Not Welcome" Can't go myself sadly, but hats off to those who are having a go at them, Hicks and Gillet aren't going to be allowed to rob us quietly.
Gomez Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 as Moores is 4th item down, its not worth arguing the toss over. Well it is when it is apparently above evicting Ayres and Purslow from Anfield, as that isn't on there at all
richwilks Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 Well it is when it is apparently above evicting Ayres and Purslow from Anfield, as that isn't on there at all Crazy. Let's harass a bloke who's make mistakes in the past rather than the c**** who are killing the club from within. How the f*** is Moores the 4th most important point? He gets free tickets, big f***ing deal, the bloke run the club for years, let him have his box, target that when the disease is removed from the club.
Case Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 Crazy. Let's harass a bloke who's make mistakes in the past rather than the c**** who are killing the club from within. How the f*** is Moores the 4th most important point? He gets free tickets, big f***ing deal, the bloke run the club for years, let him have his box, target that when the disease is removed from the club. Save your breath mate. I got nailed to the wall last week for suggesting having a pop at Moores was futile.
Molby Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 Is this open to non-members too? yes, get down there dude
Kite Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 Crazy. Let's harass a bloke who's make mistakes in the past rather than the c**** who are killing the club from within. How the f*** is Moores the 4th most important point? He gets free tickets, big f***ing deal, the bloke run the club for years, let him have his box, target that when the disease is removed from the club.I hope to god SOS have had the same sense you have - awful, frankly embarrassing, suggestion to direct protests now, at this stage, at Moores.
smithdown Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 (edited) Just back from the meeting and have to say I was very impressed. It certainly seems to have contracted around the issue of the day, which is making life as difficult for H&G as possible. Whatever concerns anyone might have about their focus should be shelved for now, also any peripheral issues such as locals v ooters are of no use to anyone. It was made plain that the meeting was seeking to guage support on general issues, points were made on all sides and votes cast: boycotting games was voted down, two to one-ish at least direct action was supported unanimously leeds away providing extra focus was supported unanimously message to moores to p1ss or get off the pot in terms of supporting campaign and/or making public his views was supported by large majority This last issue was debated very well, tbf, and my initial scepticism was swayed by what was said by speakers (one of whom defended Moores vigorously, stating that he is a close mate of his and made his points well enough), and I was convinced by the well made point that it could add a lot of weight to any campaign with floaters, or those who get their news from mainstream sources if Moores made his position quite clear. The SoS position is that they have put questions to Moores about this, are giving him a chance to respond, if he refuses to do so then an action at the ground will be made to make clear SoS's discontent with him. This issue was not the most important agenda of the day, though, and didn't seem like the massive distraction it might have been. Direct action was left as a general principle at this stage, todays includes marching to the ground and handing out flyers, but is to be assessed and accelerate in an ongoing manner. Everything is going to a public vote, by the looks of it, with a proper opportunity to debate and speak beforehand. Overly emotive or madcap schemes won't get past the vote, it's a fairly sober affair down there. Leeds (and away) fans will be made aware as much as possible about what is going on at specific games in order to ensure offence/confusion does not arise. Possibilities in the future include picketting H&G if they come to the city and the ground, but it looks like there is scope for discussion of other plans game by game. It's all to play for, in other words, and I'll be emailing my own thoughts on a matchday blockade of anfield road for them to chew over. They are the right vehicle, imho. Whatever mistakes have been made are in the past, whatever perceptions there were are irrelevant to what needs to be done. Instead of posting to each other our little ideas here we should be contacting SoS with them and offering our ideas and support. We're just p1ssing in the wind if we just have a long thread without actually getting round to doing anything ourselves. My advice, for what it's worth, to any Liverpool supporter is that SoS are as genuine, committed and democratic an organisation as we have any right to expect in the circumstances and to get stuck in. We can do this, I reckon. We can take the game to them, Liverpool style. Oh yeah, also, young Mr Shields looks very well, by the way. He looks f*ckin made up, the lad. Falconhoof Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 thanks for that update Smithdown. I'm really warming to SOS now they are fully focussed on G&H. I hope they can gather enough support from the fans at the match, there's still an awful lot of apathy to get through.

Thanks for that mate, good stuff. Positive.
Crazy Horse Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 Heard something about a banner/flag today that Hicks and Gilette weren't impressed with. Can anyone tell me what it said? Was it the lie$ one?
