Loads of positives from last night, but what about the save at 2-0 from Reina? Was hugely important.

He also kept the score from being embarrasing against Spurs.

Really do think we have the best keeper in the world. Certainly the best in the league.

He's the perfect keeper. Even a Manc mate admitted he's redefined how a keeper can contribute with his distribution.

Love him. And he looks like a lovely Refresher bar in his yellow kit.

He's very good at that, as was Schmeichel and Grobelaar before him.

wouldn't swap him for anybody. not even those premiership 'keepers who received wisdom would have it are better than him. you know, cech, friedel, given, van der sar, cudicini. . .

He's quietly getting the praise from pundits now. Never ebullient in the way they are with others, but quiet recognition about how good and consistent he is.

Agree Stevie - wouldn't swap him for any other keeper.

How close is he to displacing Casillas for Spain or is it not going to happen.

For a keeper with such ability he is going to end up with a frighteningly low amount of international recognition.

Don't think it'll happen. Casillas is very good, and plays for Real.

I do think Pepe is the better all-rounder though

Might well work in our favour, like the Clemence/Shilton scenario. To really make his mark he's going to have to do it with his club.

More worryingly he may feel that he needs to be at Barca to achieve it.

Pepe is fantastic; people can debate who the best in the world is but I definitely wouldn't swap him for any other keeper in the game. His saves from Keane on Sunday and Delap last night were world class.

Casillas is equally brilliant but as much as anything just got in there first in terms of the national team.

Once you've got the number one jersey you have to make a few errors or get injured long term to be replaced, and neither of those things have happened with Casillas or are likely to at any stage in the future.

I'm sure its a source of frustration for Pepe, but it wouldn't matter who he was playing for the situation would be the same.

Have never seen that much of Casillas and had always convinced myself that it was just the Real connection that kept his Spain spot safe.

However, he was astonishng at Anfield last year, one of the best goalkeeping displays I have ever seen - and that ion a 4-0 defeat for his side, which shows just how badly we mullered them.

Think there is very little to choose bewteen him and Pepe but he is obviously the man in possession.

Casillas truely is top quality. He's pretty young as well so Pepe will have the problem for a while yet.

They're both excellent, but I do have Pepe just ahead of him.

Leo called it spot on - Casillas got in their first. Hasn't done much wrong to lose his place either

Firstly, how does anyone have a Manc as a mate?! I know a Manc, the only one I've ever met that I could actually stand and he thinks Reina is rubbish.

He's obviously an idiot then.

I'm irish so I know as many Manc supporters as I do 'Pool fans. Unfortunately.

Some are utter bellends where football is concerned. One however, is suspiciously fair when it comes to LFC.

Thinks Rafa is really funny and has the hardest job in football too

I remember Casillas, despite already having been in the Real Madrid team for a couple of years prior to the 2002 World Cup, was only a sub for Spain, until Canizares, who was then first choice, fractured his foot by dropping his shaving kit (?) on it in the off-season.

A still young Casillas took over, and has never looked back.

Background i made for my comp a while back when i was looking at the rawk photoshop thread. (Liverbird head courtesy of Macphisto80, who has crazy talent!).

I freaking love Reina, theres no goalkeeper in the world i'd rather have at the club. He's fairly young, quick off his line, amazing distribution, amazing reactions, increasingly decisive with crosses... and he sounds like a good lad and model pro. Plus the singing for Spain's euro win was hilarous.

I've got a manc mate who thinks he knows all about everything football. He was discussing keepers with someone one day and on about how great Van Der Sar and Cech are, I mentioned Reina and was laughed at.

Mancs are blind to football.

I started a new job and my boss was a Manc, first thing he said was Liverpool will win nothing until they get rid of all the Spaniards, starting with Rafa. Risking my job I said "so you think they should sell Torres then?", he replied "only after they've got rid of Benitez".

There's other jobs, should have told him to f*** off

Reina for me is the best keeper in the world at the moment. Others will make hollywood saves, but Reina will have nothing to do for 88 minutes and then make a wonder save, get up from being kicked in the head, and throw a pin perfect ball to the attacking right wing.

Its off the pitch where he seems to add a lot too, talking lots, being a good character etc.

I think he may be a future captain after Gerrard.
