Woodsyla Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 Time and again Rooney gets away with dissent, not this time. United have 3 players sent off (deservedly) and lose consecutive games for the first time in 4 years. Coincidence, no ? We have a levelish playing field folks, it's up to us now to use it.

Earl Hafler Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 A 2 month delay ? If Scholes hadn't been sent off then every other manager would have packed up. And one card often leads to another
Rory Fitzgerald Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 Rafa's press conference is way over hyped.
Rory Fitzgerald Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 (edited) ............. on the flip side, there is no harm in it being hyped now to the chagrin of Ferguson given how he seemingly scored points off it Edited March 21, 2009 by Rory Fitzgerald
Rimbeux Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 I wouldn't draw the line as there have been a few red cards not given against them for repeated dissent and violent conduct since. There will though come a point where being above the law for so long will egg players on to a point where a ref has no choice but to card them and they end up out of control, and today was it. This reaction reminds of Arsenal once they lost their unbeaten status
kop205 Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 ............. on the flip side, there is no harm in it being hyped now to the chagrin of Ferguson given how he seemingly scored points off it Exactly. I was always in the camp of saying that it wasn't a big factor in our stuttering form, and I couldn't really therefore claim that it is a massive factor in a positive sense. But it has undeniably got under Ferguson's skin, and also prompted one or two journalists to be a bit braver as well, which can't be a bad thing.
Redray Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 huge dividends. look at this s**** from Ferguson when speaking to sky (yes he did today) "Scholes' dismissal for the penalty had seemed a fair call by the referee, but Ferguson has cast doubt over the decision by noting that the midfielder was little more than a yard from the header when it was made by Bobby Zamora. "It's close to him so he could have easily not given it, but it's Phil Dowd so what do you expect?" Ferguson remarked. "The second one I have to say, did he (Rooney) throw the ball at the referee? The ball was thrown direct to where the free-kick was taken and did it hit the referee? No, the ball didn't hit the referee. "Was it thrown in anger? Yes, because he wanted the game hurried up, he threw with pace to get the game going."
Falconhoof Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 He's cracking. Thats just like Keegan's 'love it' outburst.
Redray Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 He's cracking. Thats just like Keegan's 'love it' outburst. ..and we wait to see what action the FA take over the Dowd remark?!
Tosh Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 "It's close to him so he could have easily not given it, but it's Phil Dowd so what do you expect?" Ferguson remarked. Bet the Ref association and the FA are "loving that"

Isn't that a foul on Scholes and a free kick to Man U ?

dorgie Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 Ferguson was, is and always will be a despicable man.
Hightown Phil Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 (edited) Never mind the rant, him telling people where United's weaknesses lie and how you beat them last week looks like it's helped. We need to read some Freund Edited March 21, 2009 by Hightown Phil
San Diego Red Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 Rafa's press conference is way over hyped.Agree with this. To see that United's poor form is attributed to 'Rafa's Rant' is making us look rather stupid.
Woodsyla Posted March 21, 2009 Author Posted March 21, 2009 Agree with this. To see that United's poor form is attributed to 'Rafa's Rant' is making us look rather stupid. It would do, if anyone was actually suggesting that. What I am suggesting is that the refs are starting to referee United games the same way as they ref all the other games. Rafa's facts have obviously struck a nerve and United are not getting away with stuff that they used to as much or as often. This is obviously good for us.
Spike Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 If our manager refused to be interviewed on the telly after any defeat I'd want him out sharpish as nobody should treat us and his own decisions with such disregard. How that drunken c*** gets away with it time and time again i'l never know. The least couresy the manager should show is to say what went wrong to the fans. Perhaps he feels culpable no? and is taking the heat of the likes of the £30m berbaloaf

amokop Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 (edited) I think more than the so called 'rant' what does seem to have paid dividends is Rafa's leaking of how to beat the mancs, I've never heard Rafa talk so openly about his tactics but he was very loose tongued with how teams could put their amazing defence under pressure.... of course it means nothing if we don't do our job later today, but I just have a feeling that this could run until the last week of the season, whether we win it or not, I think we'll take it to the last weekend, and if they pip us to the title, we'll just t*** them the following Wednesday in Rome Edited March 22, 2009 by amokop
cymrococh Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 (edited) Rafa telling everyone how it's done is a massive factor I reckon. Gives everyone else the ammo to get it done + forces them to rethink something they've been extremely comfortable about all season. This momentum is starting to feel like the treble season. Gives everyone else the ammo to get it done + forces them to rethink something they've been extremely comfortable about all season. This momentum is starting to feel like the treble season. These things have a habit of becoming self-fulfilling, the biggest thing is if they will question and doubt themselves
