10 years this summer. f*** how time flies. I didn't have this belly when he signed.

 

Does indeed. What I think was sami's first appearance in a red shirt in England was a pre-season friendtly at Wolves, it was my son's first ever away match so it stick well in the memory. He was only a little un at the time and he is now away at uni. Weird to think, there were a few players making their debuts in this country that day, some of em seem to have been gone for donkey's years (Camara and Meijer definitely, maybe Henchoz as well)

I was at Hillsborough for his competitive debut against Sheffield Wednesday, 2-1 and Titi Camara scored the winner.

 

How long ago it was is put into context by the fact that I'm pretty sure Viv Anderson was their scorer that day! I hadn't seen any pre season games but I remember telling all my mates after the game we'd finally found a proper centre half.

 

Ever since then, we've pretty much always been solid at the back. Sami is one of my all time favourite players.

Seen him in the pre season at Linfield a few weeks before hand and I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw one of our defenders head a corner clear, hadn't seen that in a few years...

Ha - yes turns out I was getting mixed up with another game I'd been to there in 93 which was 1-1 and Anderson scored.

 

F*cking hell that makes me sound and feel old, I'm only 31! :)

I remember a game at Wednesday when the announcer said Chris Waddle wasn't coming out for the second half as he 'wasn't feeling very well'. Went down very well in the away section!!

Robbie scored didn't he? With a delightful curler into the corner. I think it was Carbone that scored for them.
