It would be interesting to know the main reason why Carra didnt play at right back today. Apparently last time he played there he had to have a proper rub down the day after because he was so sore. We also know that he hates playing there probably witht the same passion as Stevie hates playing on the right.

I hate when rumours like that go around, if any of them are true, Carra wont play RB, Stevie wont play right midfield, I'd want the player out of the club. and if a manager accepted the player telling him that, I'd want him out then.

I could name 6 or 7 players worse than Carra today.

 

He played the Scrote ar RB because he's faster than Carra & would be able to deal with Downing.

 

When it was apparent that wasn't working, he could have gone with 3CBs, pushed Aurelio up & used ElZhar as a makeshift wing-back

Carra has his off days but most of the time he is sound. However, I don't think his position in the team should be automatic. Agger IMO is the best CB we have and his ability to bring the ball out of defence is a big bonus. I wish we could find a really strong Cb to play alongside him(like Vidic) who can also score a few goals from set peices. Sami would have been an ideal partner if he wasn't 35.

Wasn't Gallas consistently playing left back and wasn't that one of the main reasons he wanted to leave Chelsea? Didn't Arsenal put Toure to right back last season when Sagna was out?

Gallas was a very good fullback.

I suspect it was an experiment. Carra didn't play at all well at right back in his spell there earlier in the season, and showed a complete lack of willingness to go forward and support the attack, presumably because he was worried he wouldn't be able to get back and defend in time.
