Jermaine Pennant is on a collision course with Liverpool because he is refusing to join Stoke, Blackburn or Newcastle in a £4million January deal.

 

Liverpool are keen to cash in on the 25-year-old but Pennant would only be tempted to move in the New Year to a club still in Europe.

Rafael Benitez is reportedly becoming increasingly frustrated with Jermaine Pennent who refused to leave the club, and is lining-up a swap-deal involving Tottenham Hotspur winger Aaron Lennon.

Reports in The Mirror are saying that Liverpool are willing to offer out-of-favour Pennant plus cash in a swap deal for the pacy winger.

It’s reported that Rafa has had enough with the winger who has struggled to make an impact since his summer move.

Pennant snubbed moves to Stoke City and Blackburn Rovers in the summer.

I'd actually be quite pleased to have Lennon instead of Pennant. Ideally someone better than Lennon, but I think he's more capable than Pennant right now.

 

Lennon's weakness is his final ball, but that's largely because nobody has coached him properly in my view.

Lennon is a step up from Pennant though. Far more effective going forward and about 7 years younger so time to improve.

 

That said Spurs are a joke if they let Lennon go in exchange for Pennant and anything less than £10 million, Lennon has been there star player so far this season.

I'd rather have Lennon than Pennant, if only as Lennon is genuinely quick. Don't know what Spurs would get out of a swap deal for them though.
