of delusion:

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson defended Cristiano Ronaldo after his bizarre sending off in his side's 1-0 win over Manchester City.

The United winger received his second booking when he inexplicably handballed Wayne Rooney's corner after 68 minutes.

"He tried to stop the ball from hitting his face," Ferguson said.

"He thought he had heard a whistle, he got a little push as well and it is not as if he punched the ball. The crowd played a part and he got sent off."

"He tried to stop the ball from hitting his face," - Oh bless. Head it then. Anyway he succeeded Alex. By a deliberate handball.

"He thought he had heard a whistle" - 'It was the voices that made me do it' was never a particluarly successful defence.

"He got a little push as well" - Alex, he really didn't mate. You are really struggling now.

"It is not as if he punched the ball" - Yeah because that's, um, the rule. You have to punch it. Really hard. Otherwise you just play on. No harm done.

"The crowd played a part" - Hmm. Not sure I saw any of them playing volleyball. Some character in a red top it looked like to me.

"He got sent off." - Well done mate you got there in the end. Give that man a knighthood.

Utter utter c*nt. Petulant, deluded c*nt.

Ferguson is scared stiff to discommode Ronaldo in any way in fear of him buggering off to Real Madrid.

It's quite amusing watching him grovel.

What does he think should have happened instead? For the referee, linesman and fourth official to run on the pitch and carry Ronaldo on their shoulders round the ground while he blows kisses to the crowd and the rest of the players perform an impromptu opening-ceremony style dance routine to the tune of Fanfare For The Common Man played on horns and whistles, finally all settling in a pattern that spells out the words 'ball to hand' or what like?

He's so f*cking dishonest. It's sickening.

Perhaps he should focus on telling he douchebag players to respect the ref. Webb was dying to nail Ronaldo. After he clapped Webb on the first booking, Webb's jugular was bulging.

 Of course horns and whistles.

You know its a shame, on so many levels obviously, that they didn't get beat.

Imagine the sh*te we would be hearing then.

plus there was a loud horn noise from the crowd which everyone knows is the signal for play to stop.

I thought it means you need to steer clear of a rocky outcrop? Maybe that's what he was doing. He thought the ball was a cliff.

tbf I thought he was unlucky to get sent off, I mean, it was only 2 hands he got to the ball. plus there was a loud horn noise from the crowd which everyone knows is the signal for play to stop.

Yes but its not as if he punched it.

Mark Hughes' response was spot on; something like "I don't know what excuse Ronaldo will give for handling the ball but if he says he thought it was going to hit him in the face then why didn't he just head it?".

"He tried to stop the ball from hitting his face," Ferguson said.

This surely has to go down as the WORST comment Ferguson has ever made about protecting his players. Some people bitched about Mourinho when he was in charge of Chelsea but Ferguson has been and always will be the worst culprit when it comes to making any excuse for his side indiscipline.

Personally, I thought the ungracious little turd was lucky not be sent off for his first booking when he sarcastically applauded the ref for rightly booking him - happened to Shrek once, didn't it? So much for 'respecting the Ref'.

Pretty hilarious stuff..

And true to form the c**k-eyed Mancs (Who don't go) in work are sticking up for Ronaldo 100%

Apparantly Ronaldo was 'unlucky' to have been booked for crocking Wright-Phillips. He didn't deserve to be sent off for then sarcastically applauding the referee. He also didn't deserve a yellow card for the deliberate handball.

So - for all accounts, he's just a little honest lamb that has never done a thing wrong and is just picked on by all those nasty players tackling him and those nasty referees for picking on the little mite.

Aww-Diddums!

I'll tell you what's been bugging me about this thread.

Those Ferguson quotes in the original post. Who exactly did he say them to? I was under the impression he'd boycotted every human being in the entire population of the planet, so who exactly did he say them to??
