ManxRed Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 Who's the fourth official though? And will he run on and over-rule 'spoiler' at every opportunity?

ManxRed Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 STYLES (into mouthpiece): Howard, did you see that? Johnson should have been awarded a penalty there. Can you blow for a penalty? Webb (into mic): But the ball's been in the Everton half for the last twenty minutes... STYLES (through gritted teeth): Just..... give.... Everton.... a..... penalty. Capice?
Billy Dane Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 Didn't you say it was Clattenburg last week? Apologies if I'm wrong. If I'm not does that mean the FA have changed it cos they don't think Clattenburg is up to it and need their best man in charge? Which high profile game is Steve Bennett going to ruin this weekend? I look forward to him sending off one of the captains for looking at him in an aggressive manner when he is doing the coin toss for kick off.

No, I was wanting it to be Clattenberg for obvious reasons

Expect a guard of honour if he's at the Theatre of Prawns again.

Gomez Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 No, I was wanting it to be Clattenberg for obvious reasons So he could publicly atone for his perceived error that (wasn't actually an error - but hey when have facts ever got in the way) and not give us a single decision?
Jim D Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 (edited) Spurs v Newcastle. Should be interesting, so we expect to see Bennett bring out a yellow card for the first sign of dissent from either a Newcastle or Spurs player then? Edited March 25, 2008 by Jim D
Guest Snorky Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 Should be interesting, so we expect to see Bennett bring out a yellow card for the first sign of dissent from either a Newcastle or Spurs player then? I cautioned Michael Owen for getting off the team coach in an aggressive manner, and Alan Smith for unsporting behaviour towards his barber.
Jim D Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 No, I was wanting it to be Clattenberg for obvious reasons Every decision Clattenberg made was spot on in that game, he is a good referee.
Jim D Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 I cautioned Michael Owen for getting off the team coach in an aggressive manner, and Alan Smith for unsporting behaviour towards his barber. You forgot, they are English players, they have immunity from being booked for dissent, they are allowed to back chat and swear at the officials as much as they want to.
Maldini Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 Webb is the best in the league by a distance IMO *cue a string of awful decisions*
HL5 Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 Webb has only refereed one game for us this season in the premier league, and these are the stats from that game: 28 Oct Liverpool 1-1 Arsenal . Yellow cards to Voronin, Masch, Carrager and for Arsenal, yellow carded Rosicky, Toure and Fabregas.
Lee W Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 Webb is the best in the league by a distance IMO *cue a string of awful decisions* Mockers !
Guest Prongsy Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 Can't wait to face Everton. I think we're facing them at just the right time. Good ref, too.
Guest PaulMcC Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 It's s*** that refs are so bad that some of our supporters have to check who the ref is in hope we don't get one of the many bad ones.
Guest RedLegend Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 I view refereeing appointments with as much dread these days as going camping for a weekend with a serial killer. Rob StylesMike RileySteve BennettUriah Rennie A veritable who's who's of complete pricks.
Leo No.8 Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 Webb, Alan Wiley & Mark Clattenburg are on a very short list of competent referees in the English game. Foy seems alright but I don't think he gets many high profile games yet. Most of these referees start off reasonably well in the league, then when they get the big games it goes to their head and they start wanting to be the star of the show.
Andy @ Allerton Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 The one thing for sure is that incompetant and laughable officials and bizarre and unworkable rules will probably ruin the game. Expect to see dodgy penalties, sendings off and pathetic decisions (And even if it's us getting the decisions - that's still s****) The game is in meltdown at the moment - the officials haven't got a clue - fail to control even minor matches. The linesmen have no idea what the offside rule is and isn't and the officiating is a complete and total embarrasement. And this is supposed to be the best league in the world? There is hardly a game you can get to this season where everyone ISN'T talking about the officials at the end of the game. There is no time in the games history where the officials have ever been as incompetent, arrogant, inconsistant and basically stupid.
