It would probably breach health and safety regulations.

You're right. It would dramatically increase the chances of the goalkeepers being attacked by a bull. £440,000 wouldn't mind all that much, but it'd make a hell of a mess on the pitch.

dunno, but interesting fact was that the nets at Man City are black in preparation for the UEFA cup final, black nets are clearer to see through on TV... equals better advertising on the hoarding. :cooler:

you just know there's some dull turd somewhere who has dedicated his life's work to inventing goal nets which allow the optimum view of the advertising behind them.

Why 'in preparation for the UEFA final'? If black nets are clearer to see on TV, then that must surely apply everywhere? Why would City need to get their black nets used to being see through?

They need hanging for a few months to get the creases out

dunno... might be for potential companies to see in advance how the branding would look through the nets? I guess the costs for advertising for that game are tonnes more than Premier league games..

They also need to see if they work. Interesting fact was that the nets were tested at Melwood, but the only players available were Voronin and Kuyt. After two hours the test proved inconclusive.

should have used Riise instead

I remember the nets at anfield during euro96 being different

any reason for that

You answered your own question there if you look hard enough.

I've always thought that the Premiership has standard nets for every club but I don't think this is the case, I would like red nets back. Maybe the NNN could add this to their list of demands ?

Isn't there some rule that stipulates white nets? I seem to remember Sunderland, when Peter Reid was there, wanted to have SAFC in red on the nets but were stopped by the league from doing so????

Why did we change from having red nets to white the same as everyone else?

Would this simple change help us to league domination?

Let's paint them red again with the blood of Tom Hicks...

That's because no-one in Sunderland could spell SAFC to paint it.
