Paisley Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 If Rafa had been given the financial backing enjoyed by Chelsea and Man Utd over the last few years, what do you think his team would look like now? I'm afraid Rafa is getting judged on players he's had to settle for, rather than the ones he'd really have liked, and that looks likely to continue in January - If you pay peanuts you get Voronin... Rafa is one of the best managers around and could easily win the league if he had been given a level playing field with the likes of Mourinho and Ferguson. If we are (or more accurately 'they' are) stupid enough to get rid of him, then I'm sure he'll go to Real Madrid and just about win the lot with them. If he'd been given the clout to get his top targets then this is the kind of team we could have had by now - easily capable of winning the league: --------------Reina-------------------- Alves----Vidic----Carragher----Heinze Gerrard-----Mascherano------Simao --------------Tevez------------------- --------Torres-------Villa--------------
Guest chopper Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 You are just about spot on there apart from Kaka over Tevez, werent we qouted 45 mill or something daft int summer ?

Paisley Posted January 5, 2008 Author Posted January 5, 2008 Longest thread title ever. Less of a thread title, more of a rant!

Guest Ant Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 Are people expecting him to play his strongest 11 week in week out?
tomas Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 Didn't we bid for Ronaldo before United did? About half the price he went for in the end if I remember it right.

Not as crazy as it seems. What about Evra? That was someone we should have bought. 5 million well spent by Ferguson.
Kvarme Ate My Food Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 132 million. Not as crazy as it seems. what?
Raj Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 (edited) Heinze and Simao not signing had nothing to do with available funds. We had the money to sign them, but couldn't. Alves certainly was a missed opportunity. Vidic not signing = Agger which means that we should not be too disappointed As for Tevez and Villa, I'm not sure whether we really had the opportunity to sign either. pipnasty Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 what? I agree - I can't believe he missed Kaka out of that team too. Unbelievable.
McBain Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 If my auntie had balls she'd be in the circus Rafa's had plenty of money
£440,000 Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 The owners had nothing to do with our failure to but Heinze.

surf Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 If my auntie had balls she'd be in the circus Rafa's had plenty of money He's had a fair bit, but he's not had 'plenty' of money.
Paisley Posted January 5, 2008 Author Posted January 5, 2008 The owners had nothing to do with our failure to but Heinze. Maybe so but I find it hard to believe we lost a legal argument that a club could prevent a player being sold to another club against his wishes, I'm sure that goes against European employment legislation.
