Alonso Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 Gillett and Rafa Benitez to meet in FranceBy Ben Lyttleton George Gillett is expected to fly in to witness Liverpool's night of European destiny in Marseille on Tuesday. The Anfield club's co-owner has made a surprise decision to be at the Stade Velodrome to see for himself whether Liverpool can pull off the great escape and reach the last 16 of the Champions League. Gillett and Tom Hicks were not expected on this side of the Atlantic until later in the week for their much-heralded meeting with manager Rafael Benitez, after the fall-out over the new American owners' transfer policy. The pair were due to be on Merseyside at the weekend for the Premier League clash with Manchester United, but Gillett will now have the chance for a low-key chat with Benitez in France first. Gillett will hope to witness Liverpool's third successive group win, which will ensure a remarkable qualification for the knock-out stages few expected after the Reds' dreadful start to the campaign. Wonder what the "low key chat" will be about and why is he coming on his own and not with Hicks?
Earl Hafler Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 Rick Parry to join via conference call from Barbados ?
Cobs Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 good of him to come over and sack Rafa in person
McBain Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 Will this hinder Rafa in the coaching and training of his team?
liveabiglife Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 Gillette flies into town..... and Mourinho's agent reports his man has received a "big club offer". Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....
Flight Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 Wonder what the "low key chat" will be about and why is he coming on his own and not with Hicks? I suspect Gillette sees through Parrys veil of competence and wants to talk openly to Rafa, on his own.
beejay Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 Gillett has kept quiet while Hicks has been shouting his mouth off. Interesting that he is meeting Rafa on his own and is taking time out to see the Marseilles game. You just wonder if it could be true that Hicks might consider selling while Gillett is more long term.
sean Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 Has anyone told the Marseille stewards? He has a bib.
growler Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 probably just wants to go to the game, and didn't fancy buying a fake...
pipnasty Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 Rick Parry to join via conference call from Barbados ? Parry's phone is off - he doesn't even know there is a game coming up.
Jarg Armani Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 Parry's phone is off - he doesn't even know there is a game coming up. don't be harsh, they do tell you to switch your phone off at the pictures.
