Reggie Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 No its not Rooney, its Solskjaer. Only pity about this is they might buy someone half decent as a replacement. Sky Sports Manchester United favourite Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has retired due to a knee injury, according to Sky Sports News. Solskjaer will be forever remembered in United folklore for scoring the dramatic winner in the UEFA Champions League final against Bayern Munich in 1999. That goal was one of almost 130 he scored for The Red Devils after joining from Molde in a £1.5million transfer 11 years ago. He made over 360 appearances for the club, but recent seasons have been blighted by injury. The 34-year-old did maintain a level of fitness last season, scoring 11 goals as United won the title and reached the FA Cup final. But he did not figure during the pre-season campaign after undergoing a knee operation over the summer. This was expected to be his final season as a player at Old Trafford, but he has now decided to announce his retirement. Solskjaer's decision to quit could prompt Sir Alex Ferguson to rethink his attacking options prior to the close of the transfer window. Along with Wayne Rooney, Carlos Tevez and Louis Saha, Solskjaer was expected to form part of Ferguson's plans up front. But the United manager may now require further reinforcements in attack, having been linked with Bolton Wanderers' forward Nicolas Anelka.

Zoob Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 Thought he was a very good striker, and has been horribly unlucky with injuries over the last few year (not that I've shed any tears over Man U losing his services). Never saw him as being evil like so many Man U players - for instance, not once did I see him drinking the blood of small innocent children.

Michael Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Damn good player and seemed like a decent bloke too. Considering some of the useless, ego fuelled idiots who now pose a strikers for so many teams he will be a loss.
smithdown Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 he did injure Hyypis once and scored when hyypia getting treatment Horrible foul that was
StevieC Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 He was a ruthless little f*cker. Did one of the most blatant professional fouls ever on Rob Lee when Newcastle were challenging them for the title.

Redkop Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Solskjaer... The Baby-Faced Assassin was aptly named after some of his tackles. Never liked the b*stard at all. Good riddance to him.
Eiler99 Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 He can get back to supporting his beloved Liverpool now.
Gilps Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 (edited) They'll surely have to bring someone else in now? They've only got Tevez and a couple of crocks left. Edited August 28, 2007 by Gilps

Yup. That's exactly what I'll remember him for strangely. That foul was the most cynical "professional" foul you'll ever see.
Guest Snowy Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Yup. That's exactly what I'll remember him for strangely. That foul was the most cynical "professional" foul you'll ever see. He took a red card for the team. United were trailing 0-1, and another goal would have sealed the game for sure. Rob Lee was clean through, a certain goal. He got a standing ovation for that one. And he deserved it. Ran off the pitch, didn`t even wait for the card.. Legend.
Ostrich Man Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 good riddance to a nasty little get.why? where are you going?
