Now that Heinze isn't on, is there a chance that he might be in the market for a replacement?

LB will be well covered I think. I'm not as sure about CB. One injury and we look very vulnerable in that spot.

I think that Rafa has really put all of his eggs into one basket with Heinze (and has said as much). I don't thing he'll go for anyone else.

Not till Jan methinks. Chelini?

Arbeola, Riise, Aurelio, who else is there? Na, I think we're covered

Considering Rafa wanted Heinze its fairly obvious he wanted someone who could play lb and cb.

Lets hope he does an Owen...Let him develop and play games regularly at City while we snag him on the cheap/free a few years on when he's a bit more matured and experienced, whilst Carra's on his last legs :D

Micah Richards hasn't signed a new contract at city yet.

But if that is true, why is he a part of our CL squad for the qualifiers while Kewell who is supposed to be back at the weekend is not?

It really doesnt make any sense, unless Kewell is on his way somewhere.

Depends how accurate/set in stone that squad list is

With the premier League saying they'd reopen the window to allow Heinze to join in the event of a successful appeal, I'd image we'll just wait for that. Then look at alternatives in January if it ultimately fails.

if he wants a defender he needs to act now - can't see how they can be at all confident of a successful appeal. If it was going to a Court/Euro court it might be different.

Paletta's gone on loan, hasn't he?

Yes but he was not gone on loan when this list was announced on the 15th, its only for the qualifiers mind.

My point is that Kewell is supposed to be back this weekend so he should be ready for the Toulouse match, while Aurelio is not, so it makes me wonder.

Wonder/ Hope that he's off so that we buy a certain someone who scored twice from free kicks this weekend and scored 17 goals last season from midfield and in general has excellent statistics (a.k.a ability to play).

That'll just be the squad for the qualifiers against Toulous though, Rafa submits a 2nd squad list for the group stage.

That is correct and thats why the inclusion of Aurelio is a bit strange, considering he is not supposed to be back while Kewell is supposed to be availible for our next match against Toulouse. ;)

Except Aurelio was seen training with the rest of the squad ahead of the first match in France, while Kewell wasn't

There is always the chance that the physioroom isn't actually that accurate and is based on the same press reports we all see...
