Yeah he is, saw a fair bit of him in the Euro u17s, he's very talented. It's probably the best youth team England has had in years.

Not according to some of our English Premier League Managers. They are saying that the current England team is the last one that will be decent!!

i dont think so at all -

Shilton v Robinson - Even at the age of 52, Tina is still better than Fatty

Parker - Neville - Parker

Butcher - Terry - Butcher and his caged tigers

Walker - Ferdinand - Walker every day of the week

Barnes - Cole - Barnes

Platt - Lampard - So hard to split as they are clones, bur Platt's goal scoring record is far better that the fat one

Gazza - Gerrard - Toss the coin

Waddle - Beckham - Waddle, because of Daimond Lights

Lineker - Owen - Toss the coin

Beardsley - Rooney - Toss the coin

Case closed, my dear Mr Bowie. ;)

Gazza - Gerrard - Toss the coin

Sod off. Gerrard may not be as good a player as Gazza could have been, but he is far and away a better player than Gazza actually was.

Though why you are comparing him with Gazza is beyond be anyway. It should be Gerrard v Capitan Crutches and Gazza v Rooney.

Oh and Owen is a better player, even now, than Lineker.

worst post ever

heres my choice of the better players

shilton

neville (even if he is a rat)

terry (butcher was a hatchet man)

ferdinand (walker only had pace and once that was exposed he was struggling ala marc overmars)

barnes

lampard (platt was poor mans version of a lampard who i think is sh!te - platt was possibly the most overrated england player ever)

gazza gerrard pmsl - idiot - gerrard ten times gazza who wasnt really a centre mid - seeing as gerrard is argubly our best ever player would gazza have been?

lineker

rooney

oh i forgot waddle who was complete toss just like beckham

Terry is miles better than Butcher was. What team is that you've listed by the way? What formation did they play? Why have both teams only got 10 players? Why is a left winger being compared to a full back?

Posted

Its ridiculous to try and compare this current load of no-hoper's against the heroes of Italia 90.

The whole back 5/6 would get in for a start, Shilton, Parker, Wright, Butcher, Pearce would all get into the current England team.

Barnes was far better than any left winger since he played, Platt a great goalscorer FOR ENGLAND from midfield and was a far better International player than Lampard; and to suggest that Owen is beter for England than Lineker and that Rooney has done anywhere near as much as Beardsley did is indefensible.

Gerrard would get in, Beckham at his best would and that might well be it.

People suggesting Terry as better than Butcher, and Ferdinand as better than Wright need their heads looking at, they have both been given the run-around plenty for England.

I disagree with nearly everything you say. Parker was s***e, Butcher was tough, but he wasn't a great defender. That England team was good, but they overachieved. This England team vastly underachieve.

Lineker and Beardsley were a far better partnership than Owen/Rooney.

I'd say Neville is better than Parker and Terry is better than Burcher.

Pearce was the left back wasn't he? I'd take him over Cole.

I agree: England are s***

And comparing the 1990 England and the current England IS ridiculous. The former was close to actually reaching the World Cup final. The latter barely made it out of their group and have got worse since.

The current team have some decent players, but are s*** because they can't play as a team, and the manager is s***.

With players like Gerrard, Rooney, Terry, Owen, (still has a phenominal scoring record for England in competitive games) we should perhaps be doing better. But then we have players like Cole (Ashley) Lampard, Beckham (only good for the first 4 years for England) Robinson... and others who are all way over-hyped and not nearly as good as they are made out to be. Also a joke that we still don't have a decent left sided midfielder.

Since people are mentioning 1990: Like today, we had some decent players and a few v good players - Beardsley, Waddle, Lineker, Platt was excellent in the world cup... think the difference was we had a manager who decent, and because English clubs were still banned from Europe, perhaps there was a bit more drive and determination among the players, as they didn't have European cups as a vehicle to performing on the very top stage.

Read an article from Lawton the other day that said the only recent English players worthy of a place in the '66 World Cup squad were Rooney and Gazza, with special mentions to Shearer and Beckham (I think it was Beckham, might have been someone else).

how is roony ahead of Owen considering their record for england

Hence why it was looney and I didn't bother reading on, so I never actually completed it.

Edit: found it...even more looney, he said Bryan Robson, not Beckham.

Look at the distressing evidence. Since England won the World Cup and Manchester United claimed our first European Cup 41 and 39 years ago two players have announced a level of natural talent that would, given normal development, have commanded places in those teams captained by the late Bobby Moore and Sir Bobby Charlton. One of them was Paul Gascoigne. The other is Rooney, after giving honourable mentions to Bryan Robson and Alan Shearer.

I think the original point was about innate talent and i'd agree with some that the current crop of players avaiable to the manager are more talented. However :

A team is not the sum of it's parts

The current manager isn't fit to wash the toejam out of Bobby Robson's feet. He'd probably be second choice for that job aswell.
