Is he likely to play against us tomorrow?

If so I hope our travelling fans give him a song at some stage. Great professional for us and a great footballer with an absolute rocket of a shot. His Liverpool goals compliation would be stunning.

Always liked Berger and felt there were some comparisons with him in Leto the other day (not just in the build and headband).

According to Tim Vickery the young Argentinian has a 'booming left foot' as well which we didn't really see in Rotterdam but that would be a further similarity.

Watching us when we were really sh*t and Berger was sitting on the bench used to infuriate me.

Loved him as a player.

Yep. If he was playing no matter how s*** we were you could still knock one out.

cf. Torres now.

Czech bloke who doesn't drink? Come on!!! ;)

Could be that his downfall began when he decided to cut his hair (sort of) short.

Excellent player he was for us. Still gutted he left. Wild, wild left boot he has.

One of my favorite LFC goals ever:

Also that free-kick goal vs man U when we wore green jerseys with a white diagonal thing.

Couldn't find it on youtube.

always liked players to whom the term 'swashbuckling' was applied.

indeed, and cavalier, though didn't Berger himself once describe the teams style as 'musketeer'?

He got a great reception last season. Probably the highlight of the game.

That really isn't saying much. It's like saying Victoria Beckham stood out in a duet with Stephen Hawking!!

I loced Paddy, but felt he went a touch over the top with his celebration when he scored against us for Pompey.

why, he had terrible luck with injury but underrated by many of us when he was here. must've been a relief to score after being let go. one of our best players, wish he'd been fit and stayed a few more seasons. david thompson had his name chanted by the kop after scoring against us at anfield and celebrating in similar fashion.

What is it with Czech players and injuries? Nedved seems to be the only one who has ever been fully fit for a prolonged period!

Great great player was Paddy - finally joined the ex-players association along with Vladi too this summer...could do with those two in the Masters at some point.

Never really understood all this admiration for Berger. A goals compilation DVD would indeed be spectacular but what about the weeks and weeks of inconsistency in between? There were plenty of games where his contribution was non-existent.

He had terrible luck with injuries, fair enough, but he just didn't do it often enough. His right foot was about as good as Riise's but he always came inside and rarely put in decent crosses. Half the time it was hard to work out where he was supposed to be playing and his wandering meant the team had no proper shape.

A very nice bloke, I'm sure, but never consistent enough.

Berger was a player with natural flair, and had to be given some freedom for the team to benefit from that. The unpredictability that you are complaining about was actually a big headache for opposition defenders.
