Serko Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 ALONSO WON'T BITE FOR BARCABy David Maddock 14/06/2007 XABI ALONSO has revealed he snubbed the advances of Barcelona because he believes Liverpool are on the verge of greatness. Barca were ready to offer the Spain midfielder a huge contract but instead he signed a new five-year deal at Anfield despite often being on the bench towards the end of last season. He said: "There was interest from big clubs but I want to be part of what lies ahead as I know it's going to be incredibly exciting." The Mirror surely he knows more than the journo's about the money we have to spend. You'd expect this would have been brought up in his transfer negotiations.
Cobs Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 incredibly exciting = verge of greatness feck off, maddock.
anny road Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 all Xabi had to do was read anything written by Dave Usher and he would have known we are skint the silly basque idiot
anny road Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 Dave has not said we are skint though. stop being precious about Usher....i was half joking
Cunny Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 stop being precious about Usher....i was half joking well put some jokie smilies on then and get back on the booze I'm not being precious abiout either Usher or Bascombe - I don't know how much they know about our current situation but given their track records I'd say they would know more than most.It makes me laugh when the anti-Usher and anti-Bascombe lobby claim that they are saying we are skint, which neither have. They just think our budget will be around our normal summer spending but we'll not be getting any extra from the new owners.

DanielS Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 I think the only way to sort all of this out is to have a fight. The Bascombe and Usher Apologista vs the Popular Cynical Front. The Can't Be Arsed with Rumour Mongers Coalition will face the winners.

magneto Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 My take on things? We're pushing prices down by feeding the public that we're not going to be held to ransom. FFS, we're Liverpool, we always manage to get one "expensive signing" every season even under Moores. I'm sure we can afford 2 more, especially with monies from sales.

Knox_Harrington Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 Xabi, much like Knox, thinks we're going to sign Henry.
