Holding back - a question relating to last night

I have a rule query. Pennant came on last night and towards the end of the match knocked the ball past Lampard (inside line I think), Lampard grabbed hold of him with both hands and pulled him back. Pennant got free and the refereee waved on play....

Question - if the referee has waved on play should he not have booked the fat, duck lipped nonce regardless?

Just asking like....

there were several decisions the ref bottled last night. if joe cole and SWP weeren't fouled then they dived, so go back and book the cheating c****.

Exactly. By the end of the game Carra was doing his nut at the ref for his failure to act on the diving pricks.

It isn't just the two, foul or booking for a dive. The ref can just choose not to take action....

And quite clearly make the wrong decision, based on last nights performance. The assesor will be picking him up on that. Too little, too late though.

Is it the same ref next week? Think he'll watch a video of the game? Think he'll notice they dive a lot?

Different ref I think.

UEFA need to adopt the Italian FA's way of dealing with diving little g*******s like Cole and Drogba. Suspend them for a game, that'll soon stop them impersonating a dying swan.

Ya he was decent enough, anyone know what Terry was whining about at the end of the match when Merk was just shaking his head and telling him to f*** off?

Thought the ref was good last night and as for bookings I don't see that it should be something we are looking for to beat them

He was ok first half, but second half he blew up for everything we did.

yeah, we can't rely on bookings but he's got to apply the laws.

And what was he doing when the Cu&t Mourinho ran on the pitch to speak to Drogba? ffs.

Mourinho looked like he told him to stay down.

The ref also had a very strange elongated way of running - particularly emphasized afgter he had blown his whistle...... did anyone else have their spotters badge on for this last night?

Thanks for the answer on the original question by the way

f*** knows why, he doesnt need any encouraging. Poor bloke, seems to be badly injured at least 5 or 6 times each game, fair play to him though he seemingly has an amazing recovery rate.

I thought the rules were now, diving = a booking ?

How the Feck does Drogba get a away week after week with his almost dying theatrical rolls on the ground that waste at least 2 minutes each and never get booked. How many times has a commentator said he has to come off only for him to jump to his feet and seconds later be back in the thick of it. He does it when the opposition goes forward or when Chelsea are under pressure to stop the momentum and yet the Ref's let it continue. To add insult to injury the time never gets added on. I reckon alone he must waste 7-10 minutes a game faking injury.

And when a Chelsea player goes down, why is it 2 people come on, not just the physio but someone else?

two minutes added time yesterday was ridiculous.

All the substitutions and play acting made it at least four if not five.

Agreed, but it would've made f**k all difference. Wouldnt have scored last night had we played another four hours injury time.
