Are questions about the "Beckham" a variation on the "so do you still beat your wife" type of journalistic question? I'm not trying to defend Second Choice Steve, but there is no way in which he can answer that question without a tabloid journalist, in desperate search of a story, writing one that makes him look stupid. Its just too easy. If he says no chance well then you write a story about the managerial crisis that has overtaken the English team. A headline like "McClaren unwilling to admit he's wrong" will give you a good start. If he says there's every chance well then you just write one about "vacillating media-monkey Steve".
