I didn't really see much of him before he came to Liverpool but thought from his scoring record he was an out and out striker. The type that poaches goals in the 6 yard box. I have been surprised with how much work he puts in outside the box and at times looks like another midfielder as he drops deep. I am impressed with the amount of times he picks up the lose balls in midfield and then makes good use of them. Is this the role he played for Feyenoord or has he changed his game at Liverpool? I can't imagine him being as prolific as he has been with the amount of unselfish, hard work he puts in all over the field.

his goal scoring touch has deserted him but his alround play is spot on, although he does look tired, a grfeat player though and great for the team

There are times when he gets the ball with his back to goal that he reminds me a lot of Dalglish. He always looking to get others into the game. I would love to see him in the box a bit more, especially for the few chances in the first half today that went begging in Watford's penalty area.

I was going to post a very similar post.

His workrate is really amazing. He tracks back further than any forward I can remember, and just covers amazing amounts of ground. I really can't recall a forward who works as hard as him.

works his a*** off every time. Hasn't looked as energetic these past few games and perhaps is in need of a rest. f***ing love watching him play. A world away with his centre circle walk from cisse and his shirt throwing after spending 90 minutes doing nigh on f*** all running for the team.

Come all within..

He is playing the same role for us as he played for Utrecht and later Feyenoord, yes - the difference with us is there is not such a massive emphasis on him scoring - at times, if Kuyt didn't score, feyenoord didn't score - or at least if he didn't make them the same result - no goals. In that way he's still adapting - he has better players and tactics here but his overall contribution has helped us score 13 goals in 4 games.

He's full throttle - that's just the way he is at the start of a game, some defenders have certainly got the legs on him - by the late stages, it's the other way around as his inate fitness means he doesn't lose pace while often they do.

A great player to have all round.

he will be a great player for us....for sure

yet he seems to have been struggling in recent weeks not only for goals but in fitness and his passing has has become a bit hit and miss..

id give him a break on tues.

I agree he needs a game off. I'd also like to see him and Bellamy swap around in games a bit more with Bellamy dropping off and Kuyt going on the last shoulder as Crouch does. I feel we are missing out on Kuyt's ability to hold the ball up and have Bellamy running through from deep occassionaly, it would give us another dimension being able to throw makers.

Kuyt has always been an unselfish player, however it looks quite obvious that Rafa is asking him to play a bit deeper than he normally would.

I think it was Jol who said Kuyt is a 20:20 player - 20 goals + 20 assists a season.I think he'll end up with about 15 premiership goals this season. Not a bad start but I'd like to see a predator type striker bought in the summer to partner either Kuyt or Bellamy.

I know he's a work horse, but I found him frustrating yesterday. Sometimes he over complicates things in the last third, and it held us up a few times. I'm hoping that as the understanding grows around him this will happen less.

He either scores or sets one up in almost every game. Great player.

exactly, i couldnt name a game that we`ve won with him in it when he hasnt contributed to at least 1 goal, the guy is brilliant, the epitamy of TEAM PLAYER

On top form Kuyt offers more than Crouch, but over the past two or three games his hasn't been on top form. He is such a clever player with his movement, that he still makes an impact. Along with Bellamy they really lead the first line of defence and close the opposition down all the time. I think Kuyt plays deeper far more than he does directly upfront. It is more of a 4-4-1-1 formation than two strikers right up top. Teams are really struggling to pick up Kuyt in the positions he gets in. He just needs a goal and possibly he does look tired. Top player though.

I'd like to see Crouch have a go with Bellamy, given Kuyt looking tired. He is unlucky not to be playing more as he is our top scorer and also offers alot to the team. Kuyt and Bellamy are certainly upgrades form Cisse and Morientes.

Kuyt is an extremley unselfish player. His work rate rivals that of Sissoko's. I can't wait to see Kuyt and Sissoko on the pitch at the same time. How totally disruptive those two will be once Momo is healthy and back on form. Momo may allow Kuyt to stay further forward and become even more of an impact player in the final third.

It is also time for Rafa to give Kuyt a game or two off. Or at least switch he and Crouch for a couple of games where Crouch starts and Kuyt either rests the whole game or plays the last thirty minutes.

also noticeable yesterday that when gerrard pushed forward, kuyt tended to drop back...on one occassion 2nd half, gerrard pushed foward, lost the ball and was left standing near watfords goal......the watford keeper threw the ball out to his midfield and kuyt was deep alongside alonso covering.....excellent stuff.
