I would do this. You will disagree, and so might some of the players. Tough. :D

..............Reina

Finnan...Carra....Agger....Riise

Bellamy...Gerrard....Alonso...Garcia

.........Kuyt.....Crouch

Subs.

Dudek

Hyypia

Pennant

Zenden

Warnock

No sub strikers needed as Bellamy and Garcia are on the pitch already and can be moved. I also believe that right now Bellamy would play anywhere. I also like what he's said today about being unselfish and setting up chances for others.

Fowler on the bench. Bellamy - not convinced about him playing wide right.

It is indeed a risk, or at least it would be if this were real. I just think he's too quick and too desperate to succeed to be ignored.

Fowler. I love him. It takes all i've got not to start with him to be honest.

I honestly believe that is our best team at the moment...

Agger could play there..

Why play a striker out wide when we bought two wide players during the summer so we would need to do exactly that?

So you would play Agger at CM, eventhough he untested in that position for Liverpool and continue to play SG in a position which, going by last Sundays performance, he has no interest in playing in?

If that was aimed at my initial post, my answer is that I don't believe either Pennant or Gonzalez justify a starting position just yet. Neither have settled. I do think, however, that Pennant was a great signing and will come good.

You could argue that Bellamy doesn't deserve a starting place either, but I feel that Bellamy has got the most desire to succeed out of all three of them.

Our away and home performances are so very different that I wouldnt trust our home team to be effective in an away match.

My current belief is that Pennant and Gonzalez are not performing at the level expected (mitigated by rotation policy, short time here and underperformance of established players). They can be supported by our players at home given our dominance in our play.

However, away from home its a different animal, I dont think we could carry them in some away games. However, the options are not there at the moment with Sissoko out.

Given the pacity of our play, I would have consolidated our midfield 4 and get the basics right with

Gerrard Alonso Sissoko Zenden

and keep things tight rather than going expansive, not working and leaving our (already fragile) defence exposed.

I would keep Zenden for away games with Gerrard and Alonso, though not sure who else :(

Sorry mate, thats was in response to your opening post, i should have quoted it.

I know Bellamys relationship with Souness was not exactly ideal, but he was really unhappy playing out wide for both Souness and Bobby Robson. In that regard I really cant see why playing either Bellamy or Gerrard in that position when one has come out and stated it in the press about him not wanting to play there and the other, although he has not gone to the press, the press seem obsessed with the idea of him not wanting to play there and his recent performances also add weight to that argument. Pennant is a specialist in that area which gives us options at LM whether its Luis or Gonzalez. Personally i think Luis would be a good option at LM, with Gonzalez on the left. Rafa wanted options for this season and he has them. IMO there is not real point in complicating the issue further by playing strikers out wide.

Agger in the defense gives us another ball playing possibility. And gives Gerrard freedom to roam. Pennant will be alright, given a good run. Crouch for the link up play, and Aurelio, although not best at defending has sublime ball control and crossing ability. This is my team...

I think now's the time to give Agger his chance. Apart from that I wouldn't change the back 4 of last year.

In midfield, Gonzales just isn't doing it for me, especially away from home where we just can't carry players. Same for Garcia really, hence Aurelio coming in to give some solidity and a good delivery with Riise able to push on knowing there's better cover. On the right there's no other option apart from Garcia who could drop in for home games only to give Speedie a game on the left. Zenden is a backup/squad player who can fill in but never make a big impact - and doing a good enough job IMO.

Up front Kuyt has to start, but Crouch isn't doing enough for me and especially away from home the 2 of them together are too pedestrian so you need either Bellamy or possibly Garcia depending on the opposition. For Robbie see Zenden's comments - I worry if he's past it. Home games only I think, and then only to rest players.

FWIW, I think we're missing Kewell.

I'd go with that one.

After seeing what Bellamy did for Wales i'd be tempted to give him a run of games. We need the pace.

Gerrard has to go back in the centre, partly cos Zenden isn't up to the job and partly because Gerrard seems to be sliding into frustration out on the right.

Agger must be 1st choice, I think pretty much everyone can see that now.
