LFC star accused of punching fan

Nov 6 2006

Daily Post

LIVERPOOL FC star Momo Sissoko was last night at the centre of allegations that he was involved in a bust-up at a takeaway in the early hours of yesterday morning.

It ended with one man being punched in the face following an argument.

The incident occurred at the Hot 'n' Tender takeaway in Smithdown Road at around 3am, several hours after Sissoko played as a substitute in Liverpool's 2-0 victory over Reading at Anfield.

It is believed a group of people became involved in an argument with 21-year-old Sissoko and a group of his friends after the midfielder was asked for his autograph.

Gareth Hughes, of Wavertree, claims Sissoko punched his 18-year-old brother Gavin in the face, leaving him with a swollen cheekbone and black eye. The manager of the takeaway confirmed an incident had taken place.

Liverpool FC spokesman Ian Cotton was unable to comment on the incident.

A spokesman for Merseyside Police said last night: "We can confirm that officers are investigating a claim from a 19-year-old man in relation to an assault that is alleged to have occurred at 3.30am at a takeaway on Smithdown Road."

Hot n Tender is at the top of my road. Never seen Sissoko in there but Sinama Pongolle is in Zains up the road all the time. I'm suprised how much footballers seem to eat takeaways

Gazza used to live a couple of streets from me and there was a signed picture of him in nearly every chippy on aigburth road that he had swapped for free chips and pizzas.

Saw a young Fowler in a chippy on Park Road a couple of times. He says in his autobiography he used to eat chippy all the time. When he moved to Mossley Hill he started going to Chris' on Rose Lane. They used to advertise his order as 'Robbie Fowlers favourite'

so he was there at 3:30am Sunday morning

he's surely allowed to go out after a match? he's unlikely to be playing on Wednesday.

not a problem as far as I can see

Is Lee's chippy still going on Mill Street? Used to go there for years. Lee had a wonky neck and I can see see his neck attached to his shoulder as he asked "You wan' sal' an' vinger?"

Those were the days! :)

If I was a professional footballer I wouldn't drink and I wouldn't be out and about at 3am when all the drunken knobheads are around - you're always bound to bump into pissed football fans.

Where does it mention him drinking? Bearing in mind that he's a muslim as well.

In fairness he's 21, he's entitled to a drink so long as he keeps his curfew and doesn't let it effect his work, which it doesn't. Maybe he wasn't drinking and was getting grief for buying a bag of chips??

Where do you think all that money Bertie spends goes eh? :mischief:

Speaking of whick Jim, what do you think of the weekend's shindig? Why, when your lot are so far ahead in polls, do they feel like attacking the 'opposition' ( I use that term loosely'. Kenny and Rabbite were big winners I feel. Silly stuff.

I doubt he was drinking as Muslims are forbidden to drink (alcohol).
