i hope Vladi gets to go onto the pitch at halftime if he doesnt play

Good idea. I was so pleased for him when we were drawn against them.

Poor Vlad. Made of glass. Good quality glass mind you.

Just looked. He's in the squad due to injuries elsewhere, but is unlikely to feature. Should be there though!!!

reckon he'll be on the bench for them. They have a few injuries, so if they dont' have a big enough squad for a fully fit 18, they may as well stick Vladi on the bench :)

He has to come out onto the pitch as some stage.

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez may change his starting XI for the 100th time in-a-row when they play Bordeaux in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Both captain Steven Gerrard and Mohamed Sissoko are minor doubts for the game with ankle problems, while Mark Gonzalez is still struggling.

Craig Bellamy (calf) and Fabio Aurelio (hamstring) are also doubtful.

Experienced Girondins Bordeaux defender Franck Jurietti (ankle) misses out, as does winger Stephane Dalmat (thigh).

Coach Ricardo has been forced to add former Reds midfielder Vladimir Smicer and Marc Planus to his squad.

Though Smicer would only feature in an emergency as he is still struggling with a thigh strain.

Liverpool will have goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek available, as his current suspension only counts for domestic matches.

Liverpool (from): Reina, Finnan, Carragher, Hyypia, Riise, Luis Garcia, Alonso, Sissoko, Gerrard, Kuyt, Crouch, Dudek, Gonzalez, Aurelio, Bellamy, Agger, Fowler, Pennant, Zenden, Paletta.

From the Beeb

So from that I'd play

Reina

Finnan Carragher Hyypia Riise

Pennant Alonso Zenden Garcia

Crouch Kuyt

No point in risking those with slight knocks.

:banghead: Why? What possible reason?

I'm hoping that Rafa never plays the same team Liverpool twice in-a-row again. Just to spite the 'journalists'.

From Bascombe:

VLADIMIR SMICER says he's gutted to miss what he expects to be his last opportunity to play at Anfield tonight (Tuesday).

The ex-Liverpool midfielder travelled with the Bordeaux squad for the Champions League clash, but admits he has no prospect of featuring in the fixture.

And:

Liverpool gave fitness tests to Craig Bellamy, Mark Gonzalez and Fabio Aurelio this morning.

Steven Gerrard is fit to skipper the side.

Let's not piss around with squad players tonight because if we win this then we can relax for the next 2 group games. I think this is the ideal game to rest Sami so we should give Agger another run out but apart from that lets stick with our strongest team.

I hope to see..

Reina

Finnan

Riise

Carragher

Agger

Gerrard

Alonso

Sissoko

Garcia

Crouch

Kuyt

Vlad will be in the stands tonight. I hope there are plans to get him on the pitch at half-time or at the end of the game.
