  9. The amortisation aspect makes short term speculation worthwhile. If we're going down the property angle, it's a little like buying off plan in a booming market. They never expect to pay the full price in accounting terms, and as Macca says, they, and us to a lesser extent, are throwing s*** at a wall.
  10. Thankfully noone asked JAR to play right back.

  13. I know I've said this before, but the difference between Gomez and all those you mention, is that they had some confidence in using their left. I've never seen a more one footed player, and aside from how someone gets to his age as a pro in that state, we're in danger of ruining him. Best case scenario is that he's just struggling a bit with the step up, in terms of an over reliance on his right to improve his confidence, and that as he settles maybe he'll trust himself more. Right now it's startling how much he'll put himself in a bad position, just to avoid using his left.

    Joe Gomez

The difference with those right footed LB's you mention, is that they are/were all comfortable using their left. Add Johnson, who was virtually as strong on his left as his right too. It certainly will help if he keeps coming up against left footed attackers, as they'll be looking to come inside on to his stronger foot. Hopefully his reliance on his right eases up with every game.

    Lucas Left

All well and good, but Rossiter didn't slot into the holding role, Milner did.
  19. Proper right back, got everything this lad.

    Lucas Left

If he goes it seems very clear it's because he wants to play more, and doesn't agree with BR's apparent reluctance to play him in a 2, or at least his position in the pecking order for a spot in a 2.
  21. The words average and poor don't belong in this thread. He's off the pace to an extent, as is to be expected, but neither of those words reflect anything about his performance tonight.
  22. Missed it what was the gist ?

    Joe Gomez

He's superb, but definitely doesn't have everything. Needs to trust his left foot more. His booking came because he lost possession after awkwardly intercepting a pass with his right, when doing so with his left would have enabled him to distribute the ball. If he can learn to use his left foot more, the sky's the limit, classy player.
  24. He also didn't play DM, Milner dropped back there, which suggests Rossiter's not considered ideal for that role just yet, especially in those circumstances.

    Lucas Left

I'm guessing that BR has told him he's the number one DM, but we only plan to start a DM in games like tonight, so perhaps no more than 10 games tops. The rest he plans to play 2 CM's who can get forward and back, and perhaps sees Lucas well down the pecking order for that role. I wish he'd stay, as I bet he'd end up starting more games than perhaps he feels he might, but that sub off reaction was open to possible interpretation as a 'see ya'.
