Because that's not how football accounts work. One year's gross/net spend is irrelevant, it's all about book value, costs of transfers amortised over length of contracts. Selling low book value players like Suarez and Sterling for high fees, and buying young players on long contracts, helps balance the books. It's why I expect us to sell one of each of those type of players most years now, at least til the stand is built, or FSG cash in. Anyway, it's there in black and white in the club's accounts. Not sure why you'd pay any interest to headline fees on those other sites really, not for a true picture at least.
