2nd Sept 1978 vs Spurs Red hot day, incredible atmosphere and quality football vs a Spurs team with Villa/Ardiles fresh from the Argentina WC win Front of Paddock 10 yards inside the Anny Road half Line up : Clemence,Neal,A.Kennedy,Thompson,R.Kennedy,Hughes,Dalglish,Case,Heighway,McDermott,Souness Result : 7-0 Goals : THAT Terry Mac goal, 2 for Kenny, 2 for David Johnson off the bench, Ray Kennedy, and a Phil Neal pen.

I think Gomez is a smarter, more solid option. It's a slightly negative selection, and Gomez is miles better at CB than FB, but I can see the logic given the Coutinho factor.

I was concerned Coutinho might expose Trent, half expected Milner at RB so not surprised he's gone with a more defensive minded option in Gomez. Not a huge fan of Gomez at FB, he's a much better CB, but think it's wise given their top left is tricky rather than pacey. Think it makes us more solid against Phil cutting inside.

As suggested name changes go, that's about right for the bbc.

Had no idea he was that old. You're right, he's talked about like a young up and coming star, he should be at his peak.

I'm with Hassony, whilst he undoubtedly turned out s***e, he had more than one promising performance. There was certinly enough early on to suggest he could be good. A televised away game springs to mind, could be Watford, but my memory isn't that great. I'd file him with Aquilani, obviously talented, but missing something to make it in this League.
