  1. If his buy out clause really is £9m I'm staggered so many would be against it. Its a risk for sure, but Villa, Torres etc would be also, in terms of their ability to adapt to the Premiership. I remember arguing a similar case for Anelka against Cisse some years ago, IMO it's often better the devil you know

    Jermaine Pennant

Is right - and Lennon for that matter (and Bentley??)
  6. 1. Mascherano 2. Pennant 3. Gerrard
  7. Gutted by it all, by the result, by the c**k up of the UEFA ticket allocation, by the ballot fiasco, by the behaviour of the Greek officials but mainly by the behaviour of some of our fans, just gutted.
  8. Agree with this, he does seem to have a lack of belief in this area
  9. At that point we only needed one goal to get back into it - I can understand Rafa's decision (although at the time I though Alonso was looking increasingly ineffective), but I believe taking Mascherano off was instrumental in gifting Milan their second goal which of course made it doubly difficult to get back on equal terms. Personaly I think the substitutions should have started at least 15 minutes earlier. I would have preferred Bellamy on for Zenden - his speed would have troubled the tiring legs of the Milan defenders. Crouch should have replaced Alonso - providing a better target for Pennant's crosses and also allowing Gerrard to revert back to his favoured central position, but of course hindsight is a wonderful thing.
  10. God help us if many don't think he has enough quality. Over the last four or five months he has consistently been one of our top three performers. Are you suggesting that Rafa gets rid of 9 or 10 members of our first team??
  11. Out of three seasons with us it could be argued that Xabi has had one great one, one goodish one and one very so so one - is it beyond the realms of all possibility that the first season was the exception rather than the rule for Xabi's career in England??
  12. Aye, but I suspect many still aren't sorted
  13. Talk Sport just quoted tel no. 0151 707 3107 to buy seats on a flight to Athens for £599 - day trip
  14. funny post, true or not
  15. A brilliant team performance, I think its difficult to single out anyone in particular
  16. 1. Hyypia 2. Zenden 3. Insua
  17. I've downloaded it but am only getting audio on both Real player and Windows Media Player, any ideas anyone please?
  18. Accrington Stanley confirmed their league status for the new season today with a win over Macclesfield. Quote: Originally Posted by Tin Monkey Great to see Godwin jumping around at the end too. Dousing Coley with water, first time I've seen Coley back out of a challenge. The lad's been a joy, really pysching the lads up before the game, first to the ball etc. etc. David Martin has been great as well, dour enough to be a yorkshireman, a goalkeeper who catches the ball . Good technique, but his temperament is something that could take him a long way, takes me back to when English goalies were unquestionably the best in Europe. 19. Everyone's reporting it on the say so of Maureen, I aint holding my breath
  20. Can't remember the exact wording but he also said something along the lines of - 'He has also insulted Liverpool (by saying we'd chase after Drogba) a club with a fantastic history.'
  21. Rafa knows (like we all do) what happens when Gerrard plays on the right. Gerrard himself has said that when he starts from the right, providing he does his defensive stuff, he has carte blanche from the manager to go where he wants. If you don't subscribe to Gerrard in the middle, fair enough, but you can't then complain if he fails to dust his toes on the chalk line.
  22. It's funny how we all see games differently -you will have noted Alonso's half a dozen reasonable passes for your judgement whereas I could only see his half a dozen awful passes that put us under pressure for mine. Alonso wasn't even our best midfielder tonight in my opinion.
  23. Quite miffed actually. The Wigan game was pretty awful on my computer

  25. Don't be fooled people. Maureen's main target is the Champions League - he deliberately sent them out to look lethargic today to try and lull Rafa into a false sense of security.
