I disagree. This one may be low on his list of priorities (2nd in fact, now that the Premiership and FA Cup are out of the picture)but make no mistake, he wanted to win and truly believed the team he put out was good enough to do it.

Gerrard, Bellamy, Aurelio and Warnock were ok, and I'm not going to write young Guthrie off just yet. I thought he showed some good touches under difficult circumstances.

I've said it elsewhere. I have no problem with rotation or playing some kids or even playing players out of position. But when you do the lot en masse, you're just asking for trouble.

To me the most sobering thought of the entire evening was that we only played 3 kids, and the rest were first team squad players. Yet despite everything, I still like Guthrie and think he has a chance of making it.

This reminds me a little of the Speedy transfer. We wrongly thought we could overcome obstacles to the transfer within the appeals process.

Transfer window, bloody hell!! Was quite happy in the knowledge that only Neill would probably arrive this January. Then this business re. Mascherano surfaces. Q me getting a bit excited yesterday, only to be totally deflated 24 hours later with the liklihood that FIFA won't let it happen.

As you say this article is likely spin on certain bits and pieces and no doubt accounts for why the document isn't more widely quoted. However it does bring a question to mind that I hadnt considered before - are there likely to be any stipulations/guarantees within the buy-out as to the credentials of prospective buyers should DIC wish to sell on in the future?

Riise has had a series of indifferent spells for us, and ones that can run into months rather than weeks. If I remember rightly GH dropped him for quite some time at one point?
