Carra is an exceptional defender but his use of the ball going forward is absolutely appalling. How many times does he have to hold onto the ball too long or pass it backwards or sideways or punt the ball aimlessly forward in any one game (take Villa today as an example) before his obvious limitations are acknowledged by the Reds faithful as the main reason why he isnt an England regular first teamer?

Cheers mate, but its a bit harsh explaining our success away on fairweather footballers. Barca are a quality side (as were Milan, Juventus, Chelsea etc etc) We can't keep beating these top sides just because they're not as good as everyone thinks they are or they're having a bad day or they have off the field problems. Our organisation and discipline stops teams playing and is highlighted by the limited number of shots on goal these various teams have managed to amass over the last few years.

Which is why its probably a bit harsh to criticise the substitutions

I thought we lost our shape after the substitutions were made but I think Barca would still have finished strongly irrespective of personnel changes
