Today dossena played his finest game in liverpool shirt, so far. Didnt put a foot wrong all match and delivered a couple of dangerous crosses in the box, often after beating the opposing defender.

stoke, fulham and west ham, have cost us a total of 6 points less tou our current tally. Realistically, we would never have gathered all 6 , thus we should be plus 4 points to our tally, which only means that we must gain these 4 points from more difficult matches. Perhaps Cobs is right. we are top and just rafa just needs to identify a way,as to amke the team score more goals, by creating more clear cut chances. Easier said than done though.

That s what I think as well. Rafa is not happy him with babel s attitude. Perhaps his rap crap? Rafa publicly stated that he wants babel to work harder in training.
-
Poor? He plays the sporiadic last 15mins of a match, every now and then and when the ball is in his possession there is always a feeling that he might create something. He is terribly lacking match fitness and in these last sporiadic 15 mins he still managed to create one of our most dangerous chances of the whole match. In my opinion he should be at least above ngog in the pecking order. With Torres out I hope Rafa gives him his fair run of games Baffles me why Rafa at Anfield this has never tried the midfield quartet of RIERA GERRARD ALONSO BABEL. inmho we would carry a much more dangerous threat going forward.

He has all the qualities to become a great player. his style of play reminds me of a mix between henry and our very own John Barnes. This shows how much I personally rate him. He has pace, very strong and has a powerful shot, decent cross. Needs to improve his decision making and add some more flair and creativity to his game. His deficiencies can be easily improved with the added playing-time. I feel Rafa can use him more during our home games and give him more starts down the right wing instead of kuyt. For the record, aged 22, henry was a juventus left wing reject, a raw diamond pefectly polished by wenger.

RIP to the master. lfc owes him too much to forget him.

Would play keane. he needs to break his duck against the blues**** reina arbeloa, skretl, carra, dossena -------masch--------------- gerrard-----alonso-------riera ---------keane--------------- ------------------torres------

This sucks! cant watch my beloved reds anywhere tonight.

anyone know if the match can be seen on sat tv? doesnt seem they r showing it. Link

The Keane at Spurs is a quality player, who can certainly IMMENSELY improve our attacking play in general. We needed that creative player who has the ability to thread that pass, hold up play and so on. Keane is perfect for Liverpool! Unfortunately his career with us hasnt kicked off yet, but given a chance it surely will, simply cos he has the ability and the skill required to become a great player for us. EDIT: And yes i would play him vs crewe. he just needs to gain back some confidence and overwhelm the aura of playing for a big (his boyhood) club like LFC. He still seems dumbstruck that he is finally wearing the red shirt, as probably i would if i were to play for the reds in front of the KOP, walking past the Anfiled sign etc. Keane is human as well...

it s difficult to have clear cut chances when the opposing team has 10 players in front of their goal all the time. however inmho opinion we should have tried to pass the ball more in the middle of the pitch to encourage them to come out of their shell, instead of forcing them back all the time. our best bet today was beating their full-back and pass the ball back towards their edge of the box or penalty area for an oncoming midfielder to blast it home. alonso tried it a couple of times but with no luck. it is not a disaster. we just need to trash the blues*** and well be right on track again.
-
bef***ing fair.we tried a all types of corners today. alonso, dossena, gerrard, riera, short ones, near post, far post. the ball just wouldnt go in.it was one of those games.
-
yeah that s absolutely spot on. gerrard is the problem. he dosent attack, shoot run at defenders, deliver crosses, anf after a quarter of teh match he s usually out of breath. Why neither of the others realizes this baffles me. seriously some people on here need to stick their head out of their c****!
-
impressed as well. hopefully he can prove many of us wrong. anyone grasped what gerrard said to him when he was subbed?
-
Exactly. Mascherano should be the one playing the deeper role, winning balls and then playing it simple, to his team-mates. Alonso should be the man playing further up the pitch, spraying passes, and cutting up defences. Xabi has, skill, vision, can keep possession, exceptional passer, has a good shot. The only thing he lacks in, is pace. I once recall a player which went by the name of Jan Molby and I also recall he was one hell of a player. Xabi is exactly that plus is a bit more mobile than Jan. With good movement around him and playing further up he would be one terrific player and i can fully understandwhy wenger wanted him at arsenal. EDIT: A thing that amazes me is that at the end of every Champions League game they list the player who covered the most ground and more often than not it s xabi who tops the list.

listen smarta***. it isNT just my wish. width is a chronic problem which have surfaced onto our squad for many years. yet we always manage to fail to address this problem correctly. I mentioned quaresma who was recently linked with us but acc to reports we couldnt afford his price tag.
-
putting it more simply for you. Question is shouldnt we be trying to add a quality winger like quaresma to our squad using the barry money? shouldnt we have solved this problem at the begining of the transfer window? why havent we at least tried to do so?
-
Yes. Mancini is another one who is now at Inter and was bought within our financial limits. Don think he will be a miss. has more abilty, than Yossi, Pennant Leto (riera ?) etc so more of chance to succeed.
-
why arent we? simply cos of the money? It is frustrating that year after year it is glaringly obvious that we need width in our play and yet year after year, we always fail to sign a damned quality winger. so why the heck, do you think that rafa is refusing to go after these type of players. Do you think it is cos wehe has not enough funds or is it cos he doesnt favour these type players ?
-
Quaresma who clearly is a quality player and has proved it in the international scene is set to join inter for a measly 14.5mill plus a youngster according to this link. After missing out on players such as Joaquin and Ribery we could have tried to give this portugese prodigy, his chance to solve our damned width problems once and for all. I think he is a quality player who can give us more solid guarantees that he will become a quality players for us as well. couldnt we have used the barry money, to bring him here?
-
Is it a serious injury? has anyone heard when he may be back?
-
Kuyt and Yossi are the weakest link in our team and our play. They rarely beat the opposing defender, they always cut inside, rarely deliver dangerous crosses, rarely shoot at goal and loose possession quite frequently. Who says they re excellent need a visit to their optician.
-
I still think we cn do better than reira. Roma s Mancini was sold on the cheap, and there are better players available. Nene? Deco was also bought quite cheap. Inter s Stankovic doesnt cost much. juventus almost bought him. During the Euros I was quite impressed with the young Dutch fellow Affallay. Rafa has an extensive scouting network. There are quality players around for reasonable prices. Why do we always leave it so late to conclude our transfer dealings??????????
-
Last season we only had one more left sided player and that was mr. injuries (kewell)
-
if we do not have enough funds to buy a quality left winger, it would be wiser imo to buy noone at all, save whatever money is left and buy a quality one when you can buy one. It useless buying Voronin/Pennants when what you really need is a Fernando. Instead of wasting funds on players which by next summer would be labelled as 'deadwood'. Why even buy them at all? It is clear we need a Fernando on the left and play babel on the right and maybe then we' ll be there.
