Aquilani was a class-act in Italy. I saw him play, albeit on telly, on numerous occassions and he always impressed me. One of his best traits is his great shot from outside the box. He only has tried a couple of shots so far which were always blocked. I urge people to remmember that he hasnt played regular football for a long-time, is now playing in a different country, league, with new-team-mates, different weather aginst new opponents, with a total differnt style of play. These are not excuses but simple facts. He has not even played 5 full games in a row for us under these circumstances and some people are already writing him off. I only hope he has left his injuries behind him and if so, i am sure we have a real gem in our hands. Rafa was forced to gamble because we had limited funds.

Our aurelio is much better than him. we need to aim for much more quality and pace down the left.

the real reasons why we have suddenly become s****..

any out and out winger even walters would improve our team immensely at the moment. -
the real reasons why we have suddenly become s****..

Because our last proper winger played for us decades ago. -
Our main problem apart from squad depth is that we lack width. we lack wodth cos we lack wingers. Yossi, Kuyt and even Babel all cut inside making us too narrow, easy for the opposing team to close us down and more dificult for us to create clear-cut chances. Hopefully the rumours about Turan materialise. Regarding the win i was happy as f*** yesterday and still am, but lady luck was on our side for once this season yesterday, but it would not be fruitful if we continue to rely on this ladu for the remaninder of the season. Rafa needs to be backed up financially if we are to finish fourth.

Some things that will make the rest of the season easier

some january additions. -
I m with Wayne. i think Rafa deserves the chance to turn it around. i would certainly give him until the end of this season, hopeflly backing him up financially during the Jan transfer window. It s not that Rafa s bigger than the club. It is just that it is simply too early in his series of failures and mishaps to call for his head. remmember the same fickle bulls*** thrown at wenger amd slur alex that they were finished and that the team needed fresh air to motivate them and that their time with the respective clubs was over blah blah blah.

Agreed... Same goes to Downing (not good enoUgh for LFC)

Would play this: Cavallieri, Kelly (Darby) Skretl Agger Doss, Riera, Lucas, Spearing, El Zhar, Aquilani, Ngog. Subs Reina, Carra, Mascherano, Gerrard, Yossi, Torres, Pacheco, .

Matches in the "round of 32" are scheduled to be on 18/2/2010 and 25/2/2010

No it s down to limited funds. Rafa was forced to sell the likes of Bellamy etc in order to find money for Torres. Proof of this is his net record spending. In case you havent noticed, in order to remedy the situation he has embarked on Wenger ' philosphy that is to buy many youngsters and hoping somenone will make the grade and from what i hear there is a huge no of candidates thought to be sufficently good to make the grade. Butchmann, Mavinga etc. Give the man some more time. He clearly deserves it.

Our problem this season is that we have a paper-thin squad, in the sense that we have a very good first 11, but the quality of the resreves is poor. Instead of signing loads of avreage Pennants in order to beef up the squad, he chose to spend his very limited budget on 2 world class players, to which i agree. His plan back-fired due to the ridiculous amount of injuries we had this season, plus the fact that one of his world-class signings did not recover in the time expected, contrary to the advice the medics gave him. So 2 wins in 11 considering this and considering rafa s history and every other manager s history, no i dont agree that it needs immeditate attention. What I propose and would be better is for every Liverpool fan to show some gratitude and respect and get behind Rafa and the team!

Yeah that too.

Granted, but you are quite easily forgetting that under Rafa during these 5 years we were A whisker away from winning the league. We have won the CL We lost a CL FINAL We are one of the most feared team in the CL (bar this season) We have signed world class players The manager was not sufficiently, financially backed Owners causing turmoil and havoc behind the scenes. So Kev can you honestly admit that we are just running through a bad match and teh manager is the least of our problems???
-
NO. A new 5 year plan is just what we need. Why? Cos rafa is a bad manger he has never won a league title or a CL, he doesnt love the club and we should bring a new high polished gizmo with a new 5 year plan. Would n it be better to stick with our teusted man through this bad match and hope we ll turn it over??????? Afterall this is what Mancs did with slur and a*** with wenger...............
-
so are Rafa and Houlliers eras becoming ever so similar....
Toni replied to floyd the barber's topic in Liverpool FC
Assistant managers are truly fundamental... Look at Slur, without Brian Kidd, Mc Laren, Queiroz. The mancs are now finally fighting vs relegation. Rafa must stay. We are running through a very bad patch and i m sure we ll turn it around. Stick with the man, feckers! -
I really dont fancy our financial plights if we fail to progress in the CL. If we go through, mark my words, we ll win it! However if i was Lyon s manager i wouldnt give a flying f*** and i would probably rest some key players in this match, which is reall bad news for us.

I just hate those f***-wits of ex-players who just love to have a dig at our club. Maybe Jamie dreams of his father as Liverpool boss with him as assistant manager...lol I dont think Tomkins was that biased. It is true that Spurs spent money more than us (defoe, crouch, keane, pav, palacios, woodgate, bassong, Gomes, Cudicini etc- all these almost bought in a couple of seasons) and on top of that our limited numerical squad was decimated by injuries. EDIT: oh and uppsala is a c***. Cheers oops

We should never sell one of our star players in the January transfer window In summer we ll see

My Masterplan - Rafa pls take note: We want Elia - Give them teh mighty Vog as part exchange, Vog has a very good reputation in Germany and with 3 mill upfron, teh mighty Vog and some other mills based on apperances etc should seal the deal. We want Pav- Loan exchange Ryan Babel - Pav...Siuts both teams, Spurs need a pacey winger, we need a solid sensible striker. Should seal the deal. I would be made up if we get those two in Jan. Bonus signing - ThE Long awaited VDV signing...Sell the Doss. VDV was bought for 12mill by Real Madrid. Doubt they would want a profit. They just wanna get rid...Say the Doss is sold for 5mill. Owners should put their middle finger in a dark hole and suck out at least 5mill to give to Rafa. 5mill of Doss and 2mill from budget on VDV. 7mill ufront others appearances etc. Wage bill would not be increased too much. OUT The mighty Vog The mighty Dross The Babel enigma IN Pav VDV Elia Wage bill pretty much the same. Toatl spent in Jan WINDOW 10mill. Net Spend --- 5mill In my dreams. I wish things were so easy but am really counting on the Pav signing from Spurs.

Cole is s***. He slow and clumsy. Would nt want him anywhere near Anfield. Pavlyuchenko as i stated before is the realistic option we should aim for to reinforce our attacking options. I say realistic cos he a very good player whose not playing cos of favouritisms. He s better than keane or crouch...cant see why he s not playing.
