  1. Lehmann is a g******* and a dodgy keeper. The fact that he left Schalke for Dortmund says everything. He's from round here, actually, but I've never seen him in town. Do see Rehhagel sometimes, though.
  2. As laughably pathetic as Robben's theatrics were, there's no getting round the fact that Reina DID raise his hand to Robben's curious, old man's face. Sure they did, just not half of us... If you're going to correct someone, do it right. "dreißig Prozent" Doch.
  3. May I forward the theory that Henry doesn't necessarily go missing in big games, he just doesn't rise to the occassion/can't raise his game in the way the greatest players do. He only, perhaps "goes missing" by his own stratospheric standards.
  4. Actually, the word is indeed pedant, via Old French from the Italian pedante, meaning teacher. The adjective is also pedantic, pedant being the noun. A pendant is something that hangs, the word deriving from the Old French pendre (to hang). C- I knew this huge dictionary would come in handy some day. Actually, she's a Nürnberg fan. I'm off to see their game against Schalke on Saturday. Can't wait!
  5. too...drunk...to...tw*t...the...neville
  6. It is daft, but I still think it's funny when Schalke fans make their monkey noises and throw bananas at monkey head Oli Kahn.

    Hamann

I's funny how half the posters on here go on about how brilliant Didi is and the other half on how underrated he is. Right on both counts, of course.
  8. That must be just about enough to buy the club. That's about it though.
  9. Who is he?
  10. He's not bad at it, but I don't think he's as suited to the lone striker role as Drogba--he's certainly not as strong in the air--and his best position is a bit deeper.
  11. And strikers who couldn't hit a donkey's a*** with a banjo...
  12. Sure Gerrard is more influential, but, as you say, Finnan has been impeccable, and how can Stevie be better than perfect?
  13. Aye, I think that's the big difference. Fowler was never an athlete, though he needs to get a lot fitter now. What he has in spades is what you never lose. Brains, skill and an that instinctive finishing and nose for a goal that, now Owen is long gone and Mellor has been shipped out on loan, arguably only Garcia has. We knew Nando was class, but he hasn't really shown it here, Cisse is proving to be, well, a bit crap. Crouch is better, but none of them seem to have brought their shooting boots with them. If Robbie can find half the goals he used to score, we're laughing, and we're a patient bunch who'll back him, long after Rafa will.
  14. But the Germany vs England game on 1st Sep 2001 was in Munich a matter of days before the Oktoberfest.

  16. What's he on about? They didn't get anywhere near the Champions League.

    Kewell

Exactly. Plus Gonzalez can also play LB and Harry likes to play link man. There's definitely room for both in the squad. It gives us, dare I say it, possiblilities.

    Dudek is out

But Pepe is only a couple of years older. With a dodgy-looking Dudek, who's no spring chicken, in front of him, he had a much better chance than with a really solid keeper who's only 3 years older.
  19. Perhaps it was Gary Coleman. Whaddya talkin' 'bout Willis?
  20. Who the hell will they have in central midfield?
  21. Says here http://www.arsenal.com/userincludes/docs/a...l_brochure2.pdf that tickets will cost from 355 quid for kids and 395 for OAPs to 885 behind the goal upto 1825 upper centre for normal tickets. Edit: the "club level" prices quoted earlier are for a special number of rows around the stadium and include free half-time drinks and such.
  22. Not really. The kid's so young, it could be paid over the next 10 years. We'll know long before then whether he's good enough.
  23. From that site, a list of celebrity Arsenal fans: Jan Molby "Arsenal were, and still are, my team. I am an Arsenal fan and have been since I was a child in Denmark.... I loved Liam Brady... he was a genius." (Total Football magazine June 1999)
  24. Then why would they connive to not let him go? As I understand it, the national association can have FIFA ban the player for the duration, but I'm sure that they will have been well compensated for their loss. Sickening.
