  1. I'm not confident. I've never been confident. We've won lots. Let's hope the trend continues...
  2. Let's look at it this way... We get one EC semi to watch with us in it... We get a bonus semi to support Milan in. Like having 4 games. Us being knocked out and them making it to Athens would be worse than than an us v them final. Them being in the final would be much worse than last time they were because we'd have got so close.
  3. The away goal will only ever count if Man U win 1-0. If the mancs score 2 or more, it's irrelevant, if Roma score, it's irrelevant. Mancs winning 1-0 would have seen them through if last nights result was 0-0 obviously. So 0-0 is still better as if Roma do score one, 2-1 to Man U would see extra time, where as if they'd drew 0-0, they would go through...
  4. bbc More to follow...
  5. You don't get a trophy for finishing anywhere but first. Makes no difference 3rd of 4th. Except I have a bet on
  6. Aren't "ANFIELD" and "THIS IS ANFIELD" too well known and wrapped up in the club just to be let go? It's one of the most famous stadia in the world, and has one of the the most famous marques. I'm not sure THIS IS STANLEY PARK has the same ring. Although THIS IS STANLEY KNIFE PARK would do I suppose...
  7. Aye, they're gonna go down dahn anyway innit.
  8. I said the same thing to hammer mate of mine the last time they went down. "It'll do you good, I said." And I meant it. The f***** took it the worng way, thought I was taking the piss. I rang him after the cup final (which he attended) and reminded him that "It would do you good", and that it had "done them good". Now the f***** doesn't talk to me. There ain't no pleasin' some people...
  9. Same here. He could have at least lost a few teeth.
  10. I still think he was onside. Edit : Sorry - wasn't offside.
  11. There's deffo an arm in it...
  12. hmmm... you could have a point...
  13. I hate Andy Gray too, but Kepa is not offside, new rules, old rules, slide rules, he's not forward of the ball when it's played.
  14. I agree - Garcia was not offside, he never looked offside, and the replay showed he was not offside. Gray is a prick of the highest order. It reminded me of his outburst when Reina handballed at Bolton. Except he never went back. Their offside goal looked offside, and was shown by the replay to have been offside. The ref also let them get away with minor snide late tackles, shirt pulling, general obstruction until about the 70th minute, where he started giving us freekicks for all of these. During this period however, he saw fit to award the soft free kick that led to their goal. This isn't to mention the corner that shouldn't have been, which was handled into the goal, which quite often would have been disallowed for the Dudek's collision. Crap. He's a c***.
  15. I'm an atheist.
  16. I think Palletta could come good. I don't think he has all these flaws people keep going on about. He's just young and inexperienced, and going through a period of making bad split decisions. He's not the quickest, but he has good technique, hold his head up, reads play well, and has physical stature. I'd imagine he'd benefit from playing in a settled side and with a complimentary partner. It's a shame for him he's our 4th cover in some ways as a loaning would probably do him the world of good. Even if it was to a decent championship side.
  17. IF any positive can be taken out of these injuries at all - it's that we should sign a new player. Especially if Garcia is out for any length of time. hopefully he'll improve us. Whoever he is...
  18. Laugh - I almost laughed twice. How "Merse" keeps a job his beyond me... he'd be better off owning boozer, or better still, managing a Laddies... except they wouldn't trust him. He's either three sheets to the wind, or been three sheets to the wind so long the fourth has gone to meet them. And I should know. I "enjoyed" Gray's Garcia was offside rant. It was about as convincing as Reina's handball at Bolton - except the producer didn't have a bigger story to back him up with, he was clearly onside. Unlike Gilberto? at the other end who although almost played onside by Warnock (who incidentally was kicked and kneed twice in the same spot by the same player (once is accidental, twice co-indicence) who was clearly offiside during the replay. I don't know why Gray has to make he knows without watching the replay - and then sticks to it even when he's completely wrong. Even more I don't know why people go along with it!!!
  19. Agree with all you say - Local scouting has always been decent, but even our Scotland, Ireland & Wales (except Owen ) imports have been poor. Richie Partridge anyone? Leyton Maxwell? To be honest, from watching the reserves on e-season, I've not seen much going on still - Wenger has got right (what he said post match tonight) - a club needs consistency of attitude and playing style throughout the teams. We've not got that at all.
  20. I thought their movement and thier passing was excellent. I was / am not impressed by their tendency towards leaving feet in, and snide late tackles. They also indudlge in using their arms far too much - for obstruction and also striking the opponent. The more people fawn over them, especially in the media, the more refs seem to let this quite horrible part of their game go unnoticed. I thought their movement and passing was excellent. Especially the two centre backs tonight. I would have prefered to see Agger play with Palletta, despite the lack of experience. We've got a problem - especially with the Palletta that we don't have a natural pacey partner for him, both Carra and Hyypia leave him exposed I think.

  22. First of all, we all know how important it is when we score first, we look far more comfortable (although I think we looked quite comfortable all game apart from 3 incidents). Our attacks become far more considered - although this does lead sometimes to odd last 20 mins 1-0 up a la Tottenham. Usually it leads to us scoring more goals. Yesterday, I think the game turned for us when we were denied the clear penalty. At 1-0 I think Arsenal would have been tactically f***ed. Toure would have had to come out from behing the parapets and we'd have seen some joy in behind them - with Bellamy probably joining the attack. As it stood, they dug in, looking for the counter attack whcih they are (especially yesterday) set up for, and we fell into our bad habits. Like I said though - if we had have scored first, in all probabilty, their tactics would have looked flatter than ours did.
