Question for any resident 'arl lads who have stood on the old Kop.
Billy Talbot replied to dorgie 's topic in Liverpool FC
he says they were nicked off his feet. Although I reckon they just came off! Having stood on the Kop a fair few times myself, I could never work out how a scamp who specialises in nicking shoes could / would grab shoes off feet. First few times I went though, I tied my shoelaces especially tight... -

My dad had his shoes nicked on the old Kop - a surge forward... his feet off the ground... Had to walk home in his socks -
This is the player we should be buying...

Get Garay in. Rafa knows we need a new centre back. I know we need a new centre back, he/she or it knows we need a new centre back... -
Interesting. I've always rated Laursen. I think he'd want to think of himself as 1st pick tho.

Yes - the new stadium is nice. Lovely in fact. Now - about these arab channels. There may well be ongoing cases about pubs showing foreign channels - but these shouldn't be about pubs showing them - they should be about pubs who show non-sky satellite when under contract with sky. Sky own the broadcast rights - nothing else. When you sign up for sky though - the contracts stipulate that you use sky as your sole satellite provider. Sky cannot force you - if you have no contract with them to abstain from other sources. There are no other laws stopping you from receiving foriegn satellite. Neither can the premier league - their route to stop this through the courts should be stop foreign broadcasters broadcasting signals which can be pickup in in Britain. I was good friendly with a landlord (admittedly this was 5-6 years ago - I've moved since) who showed non-sky satellite and openly advertised it. He'd checked with his lawyers and with the local police who'd all okayed it with him.

What about us poor sods who have no satellite - (big trees) and no cable? (no cable in road) I've got freeview - but it looks like just to get Setanta I have to buy a new box - subscribe to TUTV anytime for 9.99 a month and then Setanta for £9.99 on top. b******s to that. My telly's got a slot for a TUTV card - but it seems TUTV don't do these cards anymore. Although there are some for sale on Ebay. Has anyone got Setanta running on one of these old TUTV cards? do you have to subscribe to TUTV on top of Setanta? It's all very confusing this - even for a man who's not easily confused.

Heinze set to buy out united contract....
Billy Talbot replied to Brutus the barber's topic in General Football Discussion
Surely it depends if "the letter" is upheld in court as being contractual. His exit stragegy relies on it. If the letter is deemed non contractual - then he'll have to sign for another team with Utd's blessing. I for one will find it funny if he signs for us against their will. And if he can regain the form he showed in his first season. I'd find it hillarious. -
He doesn't want to fin rot in the reserves...

He's going out on loan to Marine

You put your Voronin, You take your Voron-out, In, out, in, out, Rotate him all about... You play him in the hole and he scores a goal, And that's what it's all about. I know left my coat somewhere...

We'll see. I'm not as confident / hopeful now I've read that. Seems to read like he wants to stay the big fish in the little pond.
-
I mean when he went back to Spain. Although I get your point. Perhaps they'd just burn effigies instead of actually skewering him Surely if he thought there was any chance of him leaving he'd just come out with the "anything can happen in football" line - not the "I've been asked this loads of times - and the answer is the same as always - I'm staying." line. He'll look like a right t** if he leaves.
-
Not that I speak Espanola but google translated it for me. It says that there are always rumours he's leaving, and each time he feels like he has to come out and deny them. IF he's leaving, he'll be the first to say it. He wants to stay at Atletico and thats the end of it. He says he want's to get in the UEFA by winning the Intertoto. And how much of a failure finishing 7th and out of the European places was. Even if it is two days old he'll get skewered on his return if he does leave after saying that. Especially if it happens in the next couple of days.

I'm begining to think the same thing... although I think there are some who think they've seen real pics. Some I think might be right - but they can't all be right. Which is fair enough. Each to their own. What's funny is the people who are begging / getting annoyed with people who won't share these pics - just in case they're real

How can the referee not abandon this game

LASER ATTACK!!!

I agree, although I rate Momo and appreciate what he does, he can sometimes be painful to watch. Especially in games where we should be cherishing possession. Although he has excellent close ball control - passing the ball well, or shooting for that matter - seems beyond him. Mascherano for me offers a much better solution. And Alonso can sit deep if we play without Masch. Sissoko plays much higher up the pitch where we need to create more. Saying that, I think he'd be a great signing for a team like Barca, who have inventive players - who struggle when they lose the ball sometimes.

I can't see how UEFA could claim force majeur successfully. Nothing happened that they weren't warned about, nor shouldn't have taken adequate precaution against. People with forged tickets and ticketless fans gained entry to the stadium so it became "full" before people with tickets had a chance to use them. That's not a force majeur. It's just plain negligence. I just keep thinking we're so "lucky" that people we're just locked out, batoned, tear gassed etc... UEFA staff should be resigning / getting sacked left right and centre...
-
Like I said. If I was there - and had a ticket, and was treated like this - I too would sue. Legally I reckon it's quite open and shut. The ticket is contract between UEFA and the ticket holder - nothing and nobody else. I'm not sure costs (in terms of flights, hotels etc) would be awarded - but it's simple to see why the ticket value should be re-embursed.
-
Good on him as he obviously did intend it! Got to think though now - if he does it again - any ref worth their salt should know that it is deliberate use of his arm and therefore handball. The spawny t***.
-
I don't blame the ref at all - but I got the most excited I got all night when he booked Mascherano and then Carragher one after the other - the first cos Milan asked them to - the second because he felt like iit - no way a booking. I though Mascherano would be subbed then. And to think I had five quid at 33-1 on Gattuso being sent off... With that ref - no chance. And yes - the linesmen were s**** aswell. One of mates who I watched it with doesn't really watch footy. He asked about 15 mins in "Where's the ref from?". "Germany". I replied... "Oh well that's that then isn't it...". Simplistic I know - but probably more accurate than most of us would like to admit...
-
If I wanted entertaining I'd do something less boring instead. Sitting round all day, nervously drinking beer all afternoon to numb the fear of failure... Hardly entertaining is it? My other half will no doubt see it differently... the football?? Who cares? but I reckon it will be ok for the neutral - the last time brings forward a certain spice for everyone watching... If both sides score it will be better for them. I'd be happier with 10-0 in the first 10 minutes.

Yeah Seedorf... I don't see why people are continually slagging him off. I've seen him play on the telly 10-15 times or so - always looks a good player to me. Creative, strong, great technique, willing even things around him perhaps aren't alright on the night. 3 (or is it 4?) European Cup medals with 3 different clubs is incredible and shouldn't be dismissed. Each one of those coaches had him in their winning teams. Never really him play that well for Holland I suppose that might have something to do with it - but then most Dutch players don't turn up on the pitch for Holland. We need to be careful with him as well as Kaka. What we don't want to be pinned back be Seedorf, Kaka and their fullbacks - allowing Pirlo time on the ball. I can deffo see the logic in playing Alonso and Mascherano in the middle. I can also see the logic of playing Alonso, Mascherano, and Momo (mainly on Pirlo). Although Zenden's injury makes this difficult I think, as he would the natural selection on the left of that with a Gerrard free role. I'd not feel comfortable with either Kewell or Gonzo in the formation. The other way would be with Riise at LM, but I think Arbeola has been erratic (and understandably so) since his wonderful displays against Barca. I'm not too worried Gattusso. Gerrard will keep him too busy to be an attacking threat (he says... )
