I dont think your main points are valid. We had major injuries from early on in the match, otherwise Crouch would have come on. If Carra and Xabi had started and got the injuries instead of Luis and Gonzales Rafa would have took major stick. I suspect Rafa has publicly kept a lot to himself over past transfers, until now. I think he has been furious over missing out on the likes of Alves, although he has publicly supported the club. I also suspect he is afraid of Parry keeping his job and duties under new ownership. Lots of guess work on my part, but what Rafa has said confirms some of my past opinions.

I thought Finnan was poor defensively yesterday, but its ridiculous to quesiton him based on one bad showing. He's one of our most consistent players. Compare to Riise who is far below what is needed defensively and this thread is madness. Riise was poor, no surprises he always is at the back, Finnan was poor which was a surprise.

Watched it over and over I think he was trying to jump over the defender. /shrug I may be wrong, but its a nailed on penalty whatever way you look at it.

You build from the back. We don't have a LB who is good enough defensively against quality opposition. I'd start there.

Can't believe how little stick Riise is getting in this or the other thread, for his defensive (lack of) ability. Played a large part in us conceding the first, first goal being huge in shaping a game like this. Continue to think LB is the weak position in our team against sides that show any quality down that flank.

I heard this. Galloway really ripped into McKenzie and the people who allowed him on. He specifically criticised them for allowing him to appear after he admitted lieing over Hillsborough and his apologies about it. There are some obnoxious twunts on Talksport sometimes, but more and more I find them covering issues which I agree with, while mainstream politics and media ignore them.

Dont agree mate. Think he has had a lot of suspect moments recently and his lack of pace is being targetted more by quality opposition, as displayed by the sheer amopunt of through balls that Arsenal attempted. I was amazed Rafa took Sami off instead of Carra, who was a gnats c**k away from being sent off. Read it exactly as Kev said at the start of this thread. I continue to think Riise is far too weak defensively and a liability against the top sides as well. We cant afford to have suspect apsects to our defence.

I'm not convinced. Who are we buying in the summer and which of the players has got the spottiest a*** ?

Watching the game last night, the first thing I thought about was that goal Clem let in for Englad, where it just rolled through his legs. Softer than last nights. Immediately made me think, we'll still remember Nevilles OG 20 years from now in the same way I remember Clems howler.

Well said. Agree with that. Remember immediately after we bought him going to the friendly Birmingham away. Practically his first touch, he ran past a couple of their players at the half way line and ran and sprinted off at their goal. No-one could touch him; I nearly shot me load watching someone in a red shirt do that. It was like Owen's England goal except he looked a foot and a half taller and had some of Emile's strength. Great partnership with Robbie; could have been so much more.

I really wish we could drop the Owen talk, we all know there are strong feelings about it both ways. He has only ever been interested in himself.
