Essien didn't vetoe it. I was watching an interview with the lad on Eurosport earlier on in the season and they were talking about his career so far, and he actually mentioned his move to us. He was all set to come but was denied a work permit. Chelsea 1-0 Reading. Dider Drogba.....

Both yours and Scot's assessment of the lad are spot on. Emile's problem has never been the amount of talent in his boots, it's the confidence and belief he's always lacked. He could have been one of the great all time strikers had he had half the mental strength Owen, Rooney and others posess. Top top top top bloke as well.
