If they keep saliba and have added zubemendi and norgaard to the midfield, along with squad depth in madueke (and that young lad in defence) then they'll definitely be stronger, especially in midfield where Rice is already very very good. Big season for Arteta and arsenal, but think they're buying pretty well

Last season Diaz and Jota interchanged for the 9 role with Diaz and Gakpo also interchanging on the left.. You could see how if Diaz goes that slot uses ekitike between both roles with Isak starting 3 out of every 4 in the 9. Ekitike starts 1 out of 4 as the 9, 1 out of 4 on the left, and constantly gets minutes in both roles off the bench

So this isn't a pointy comment but a genuine ask... What is there not a lack of positionally on the market. We've heard there is a dearth of number 9s leading to an inflated market for B+players. You're saying there is a lack of CBs. There must be a surplus of quality players somewhere? Is this part of what happens when players become more developed to be able to play with higher levels of technical competency in multiple positions? (or are there actually always good players out there and the idea there isn't for a particular position is something of a myth)

Yup. Tend to agree. He's never put in anything less than 100% on the pitch, even if playing on lesser terms than those he is playing with or being rotated with. It's the same principle as the geordies with Isak, valuing a player high for release of a contract that is not commensurate with that valuation. The player is obviously going to ask to be paid at the level he is valued at, and that's totally fair. If it's his time to make a move and we get fair whack then thanks for the memories Lucho. Don't want or mean to overload these discussions, but I guess these past few weeks bring it home that these guys are not simply moving parts subject to contract obligations. He's a guy with a family and a future and wants to make the best for himself and has never done anything other than give everything for the shirt

I'm optimistic on this one. His ceiling looks very high and at times he looks exceptionally skilful and fast. He's only 23 and has had ups and downs, but in the right team, with the right coaching, he could become exceptional. He's going to have Wirtz and Salah and Macca all feeding him with great chances. Mo, suarez, de bruyne, dembele... Loads of players have taken a route that wasn't Messi like in terms of quality = output from the age of 18. Very few do. Totally different position but virgil took his time and built a career. I don't think they do this unless they really believe in what the lad can do. So, very optimistic C'mon you blesseds

Yup.. Reckon club are 50/50 on sell/ keep at say 100 million.. And that goes 60/40, 70/30 for every 10 million over that.. And the player is 90/10 on leave / stay at any of those numbers
