  1. I love the way these words are in quotation marks as if these, and only these, are the exact words he is going to say
  2. Everyone will respond in different ways, but on the whole getting back to the football will be important, because the football IS important. At one and the same time it's a sport and pales into insignificance in the context of a family that just lost two sons, and for Diogo a family that lost a husband and father... Yet it is the football that brought Diogo, and by extension his family, into our orbit, and it's an orbit that creates memories, and songs, and some of the best moments of your life, and that connects people across ages and stages of life, across all faiths and none, across continents, and race, and skin colour, and gender... Its the football that can bring 1.5 million people into the street simply to share in the wonder of lifting the thing that shouldn't really matter, really.. And yet it does. It's the football that brought Diogo into our club, onto our pitch, into our songs, proclaimed out of our mouths. Without the football the horror of this week would have been a nightmare for a single family in a small Portuguese village and that would have destroyed the world for that family, yet would not have resonated around the world, yours and mine. The football matters. It gave us Diogo and gave him the amazing, yet far too short, life that he lived. The football will go on. It should go on. It must go on. The football is why the week that has passed has hurt so much and pained so many. It will be the football that will bring about the joy and celebration that will be part of the healing of the same. Thanks for being part of the football Diogo. It was a privilege to watch you play. We'll sing your song forever where it really matters - at the football.
  3. I seem to remember Jota and Trent playing as finalists in a fifa tournament just before Jota joined as they were both brilliant at it. Jota won. Found it! https://youtu.be/YalflSGycoA?si=Yoxx6EkoU38yPewc
  4. It's going to be very surreal for the whole club. People get hit in very different ways and it's going to take a lot of being careful, kind and patient for the club as a whole. The news is stomach churning, bewildering and numbing for us, and we didn't share a dressing room with him, or serve him lunch in the players canteen, or chat about the height of everything and nothing on buses and planes. I am 100% convinced that in the days to come this club will do right by Jota, his family, and his legacy. After that, I'll take those at the club coming through this with grace, dignity, and compassion intact, and whatever else will be, will be.
  5. A statement from Edwards and Hughes also. Everyone is just reeling. I know I am.
  6. That's simply horrible
  7. It's more or less the same as our 'interest' in Isak Player currently underwaged and tied to a contract Buyer wants to buy Seller claims they ain't selling as player too valuable Player wants better contract then from the seller based on supposedly being do valuable Seller says 'no, you're on a contract' Giant game of brinkmanship. It's in the sellers interest to keep the player on current terms or sell for a premium price In the players interest to get a big move or a better contract In the buyers interest to have the player agitated for a move to drive down the price In short, both Isak and Diaz are for sale. At the right price
  8. That's F Church btw
  9. Was going to post Robbie Keane having read through every post to make sure no one had...And at the very last post, there he is Robbie Keane. Mad career but at least the money for him will help with this summer's transfers
  10. Stats online say he scored 49 goals from free kicks, which sounds a lot, with a conversion rate of 4.5% which sounds pretty low till you realise it's better than most. Which means with one of the best free kick proponents you're going to score just under 1 in 20, and we've scored 13 in the last 11 seasons. Pretty low return v level of anticipation when one gets awarded
  11. It would appear that your preemptive apology was unnecessary But you tried
  12. Why should Newcastle do anything other than pay him under his current contract until summer of 2027 when he will be a few months shy of turning 29, then move him on for about 30m with 12 months to go? He ain't gonna down tools playing in the CL and hoping to get to a world Cup. Can't see any reason for them to bat away any interest other than real stupid money
  13. Lad got to be part of one of the most amazing periods in Liverpool history, was championed by the reincarnation of shankly, rocked up to the San siro and did this.. Very few football loving people in the world wouldn't have swapped whatever they're doing, have done, or may yet do, for the career of Nat Phillips Well in lad.
  14. Reckon we might think that if Konate leaves on a free that we bring in guehi on a free and line up everything now with him. Still think we need to bring someone in if Quansah goes
  15. Mo's so good he beats two teams at once
  16. Daredevil
  17. Every Friday for the last 3 weeks has been Florian Friday.... And the opening game of the season is on.... A FRIDAY!
  18. I'd quite like Florian Friday to get on and do its job and complete this thing...
  19. Well, they are working hard to improve their record so all those executive meetings along with development of systems and controls are clearly paying dividends.
  20. Football speak is genuinely up it's own backside at times... This report on the beeb actually has this quote "Manchester City have worked hard to improve their record in this area and say they will continue to do so" https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/c628d92wnr9o What a load of pretentious waffle
  21. We must be keeping Konate now irrespective of contract
  22. Are Leverkusen our new Southampton?
  23. Take a look at Hughes hair It's real Made kerkez' dad Just take the deal Then he wrapped him up In a trunk Sent to Bournemouth Then Hughesy comes back to steal.. We got ourselves a racist talkin India lovin' Kerkez pa ....
  24. Poetry in motion (weird aside was seeing a shirt with the number 15 on the back in an era when it was 1-11 and the sub wore 12)
