  1. Have they not given the gig to spearing?
  2. Looks like Newcastle would not mind keeping Isak but are also thinking about how a sale could give significant PSR wiggle room and cover to allow the owners to tap into those deep pockets
  3. For £200 rearrange these into the correct order
  4. Alright.. Which one of you is Alex crook!
  5. That's the best worst penalty kick competition ever
  6. Tell me that, even if it was just once, silently muttering under your breath, you whispered "there's no way we're getting Wirtz".... Cos if you did.........
  7. Did the fella get out and say 'I-sick'
  8. Or none of the above Lot of confidence on here that there's something very real about the Isak link.. Genuinely intrigued.. Is this just wishful willing something into happening and once a few people say the same thing it becomes more and more perceived as being real... Or is this confidence based on something a bit more tangible, and if so - what. Discuss, in 1000 words or less
  9. quite a lot of what happens next must depend on what position on the pitch Slot has in mind for Wirtz. If he goes 4-2-3-1 you'd imagine Wirtz is in the middle of that 3 with Salah right and Gakpo/Diaz (or replacement) left, and then they are looking for a focal point for the attack. Could be Diaz but v unlikely, and Darwin doesn't have the game for that. so we 100% need a striker and we allow Grav, Macca, Szob and Jones to rotate the 2 midfielders with Szob and Jones stepping in for Wirtz from time to time. If he goes 4-3-3 then does he see Wirtz in the front 3 (so we'd have Salah, Wirtz, Gakpo, Diaz, maybe Chiesa and that might do us along with young lads) - but in this scenario we 100% need another midfielder. If he sees him as the most attacking 3 in the middle 3 then we are back to needing another striker and we have enough in midfield. You'd have to think we won't compromise Wirtz and will aim to build around plan A for his role in the team, whatever that is. Fwiw I hope plan A has him as one of 4 creative attacking options in either a 4-2-3-1 or a 4-3-3 and not one of 3. As for defence, if Konate won't sign and no-one will pay more than 20 million for him as he has a year left on the contract then I'd sign his replacement and treat him as a 20 million centre half, namely as back up. Not a great move for him in a world cup year.
  10. Soz..Just made me chuckle.
  11. All in the spoilers... To be honest it reads like a summary of about 3 days worth of posts in here. Adds very little really
  12. That's a lot of interest in the travel itinerary to ask twice Maybe one of the baggage handler lads will sort you out
  13. Would have been lovely if the fans had broken into something like. Go on and win the league Go on and win the league Almost giving the lads permission to let go
  14. Spoke very well. The guy is very authentic. That story about the photograph. He could have taken that from the lad interviewing him and made it 'his own' as if that was his tale to tell... But he simply said 'you know this because you told me' and then relayed as an illustration of Jota being a whole team player. I know that seems a strange thing to pick out, but it's just really great leadership and really authentic. He's the right guy for any club. I'm thankful he's at ours.
  15. The champions are playing today. The whole tone has shifted drastically, but the fact remains... The champions, our lads, are playing today. C'mon you blesseds.
  16. As the hotel manager of the women's youth development side, being loaned back to the men's team on a 15 year loan with a right to buy option
  17. We have to remember, positively, that we have lads young and old who know how to walk on through grief. Ali lost his dad during the Covid season, same with Jurgen and his mum and some of those players will have remembered that. Someone providing a very appropriate voice over to footage of some of the lads in Portugal saw Connor Bradley and said, again appropriately, how does someone so young deal with this. And I thought, not pointedly, Connor will be ok, he lost his own dad in the last 2 seasons and came back within a few games. It will be tough but.. They will come through and will be even stronger for it
  18. I'd genuinely doubt that and not sure if it would be helpful. Jota will be memorialised in song and memory, but a big stage in all of this is acceptance of the fact that he's gone. That's as important, though difficult, as the commemoration and flower laying and tears. To have a season in which we acted in a way that suggests he's still actually part of the squad would be too much methinks, both for the players to do their jobs, but also for the players, fans and all involved to accept that he is gone.
  19. “By retiring this squad number, we are making it eternal – and therefore never to be forgotten. “Diogo joined us in 2020, he won us number 20, and he wore – with honour, distinction and affection – the number 20. “As far as Liverpool Football Club is concerned, he will be forever our number 20.” Really, really good
  20. (you think him wearing it changes it? Funny how 8 doesn't resonate given Gerrard wore it... Are numbers only a thing if they predate the end of 1-11 on the pitch?)
  21. Mo should keep 11 though, right?
  22. 7 days.. Dunno if it feels like an hour or a month so
  23. It's convoluted, but I guess what it does do is incentivise finishing in the top 2 out of the top 8, so that going into games 7 and 8 teams in the top 8 will still try and gain an advantage or protect it Play Off Round 2 teams from 15v18, 16v17 Last 16 Teams 1 & 2 guaranteed to play at home against the winners of the above Quarters Teams 1&2, or if beaten those in 15-18, will be at home against any of the following 9&10, 23&24 who compete in the play off and then play teams that finish 7 & 8 in the last 16 Basically, home advantage travels with the winners of any round involving teams 1 & 2 Semis Given that 1 & 2 can make the semis but on different sides of the draw, this means 3&4 are not guaranteed a home draw as 1&2 are still in the competition taking the teams 23/24 as the lowest ranked - they will be away 2nd leg against 9/10 in the play off - if they win they will be away 2nd leg against 7/8 (as 9/10 are not protected home teams) in the last 16 - if they win they will be away 2nd leg against 1/2 or 15-18 as 1/2 protected and 15-18 higher ranked in the quarters - if they win they will be home 2nd leg in the semis, even if they play 3/4 This is the logic in the article as to why 3/4 can never be at home in the 2nd leg in the semis - they will either be playing 1/2 or playing someone who has taken the protected status of 1/2 aye, convoluted...
  24. Thought about Fowler but then we didn't sign him to begin with
  25. I'd agree and would hope that even if they dial it down somewhat that we also remember that for that player, this is the only time they will sign for Liverpool* and it is and should be one of the greatest moments of their lives. Recent Covid history reminds us of having a special moment taken away from us. For Wirtz and co it's important that they don't feel as if they have just joined a wake. Like any house in which someone has died, often the most helpful and carthatic part of the process is the laughs and smiles that come with remembering the good times, the funny moments.. I'd imagine for the lads that will be were the comfort comes and were the new bonds are formed *obviously Steve Staunton wants to have a word
