I believe Rafa has to take a lot of the blame for last nights result and very poor performance, simply because I think he should have started with the same 11 that started against Spurs. My reasoning is that after the effort and performance they put in merited them keepring their place, I know there will be arguments about the abilities of individual player, however I really believe it would have been a phsycological boost for the squad if Rafa had stuck with them. In addtition to this I am a great beleiver in continuity of selection, especially if the team has played well. I think picking Gerrard was a huge mistake given the reasons above and the opportunity for him to have made an impact, if required, was lost. He clearly wasn't match fit and I think if things had been going poorly, he would have had a bigger impact coming off the bench against players with tiring legs, not too mention the negative impact it would have had on the Wolves players seeing him coming on. This isn't a dig at Gerrard becuase I think he is one of the greatest players in the world and if he had been coming back from a suspension rather than an injury and was match fit or nearly match fit then I would have wanted him to have come straight back into the side. Unfortunately he wasn't and I think, given our performance against Spurs, Rafa missed a massive opportunity to help ease him back in and get back to fitness.
