  1. One of Ribery or David Silva. Robben - as brilliant as he can be - is a gutless coward and a little w*****.
  2. I was commenting on it watching the match yesterday. Cue many arched eyebrows from friends. All I said was "Xabi's beard is looking magnificent today"! I'm considering re-growing mine in tribute.

  5. I will never give that cretin any credit for anything.
  6. In fairness, that hat-trick was in a game that was a dead rubber against a team already relegated (I think). He was hyped early on, but I never really saw what the fuss was about when he did break into the Barca 1st team picture. Bojan - though younger - looked a much better bet coming through.
  7. The best thing about that quote was a bit later when Sami got caught upfield and one of Lucas or Masch dropped back and made an interception as United attacked, he praised our system of using 2 defensive midfielders. Make up your mind, Andy!
  8. Aye. Just what Chelsea need - another fitful wide attacker who'll vaguely produce something every 5 games or so. They've never replaced the Duff and Robben combination of Mourinho's first season.
  9. Oh yeah, and Bentley can f*** off as well. A complete non-entity of a player.
  10. Bent is bloody awful. The Russian (that's not me getting all Ian St John, I just can't think how to spell his name) isn't much better either. I don't know if I'd take any of Spurs' squad. Maybe Modric as an alternative to play behind Torres, but he'd still be second choice behind Gerrard for me.
  11. Thing of beauty, that. And the skill wasn't bad either.
  12. So was Andy Cole up to the time he left United. Of course, having a player who can score many goals is grand, but as an actual footballer, Inzaghi is toss.
  13. He'll always score goals - he has that knack. But in terms of actual ability he ranks alongside Pippo Inzaghi.
  14. I'd agree with those, though Abebayor can be very good on his day. Others include... Ashley Young Theo Walcott Robbie Keane Michael Owen (brilliant youngster, mediocre since his pace went) Nicholas Anelka David Bentley
  15. Aye, read this in today's Fiver. Quality.
  16. Bale does seem to be slipping into the role of the "new Ian Harte" quite nicely.

  20. I can't decide if the Europe's elite clubs have gone nuts, or if Pennant's agent has decided that the best way to drum up interest in his client is to make up the most bizarre untruths in the hope some middleweight PL club will stupidly fork out £60k+ a week (COUGHWest HamCOUGH) solely for the privilage of supposedly pipping one of these massive clubs to Pennant's signature. Either way, it almost makes me wish Kaizer was still here to respond to all this. Actually, nah - not worth it.
  21. O'Neill's done a good job there, but I'm not having that they're a side that's easy on the eye. Lots of crosses, lots of set plays, and a combination of big lump and fast guy up front. An effective formula it may be, aesthetically pleasing it's not. If they get into the Champions League, it'll only be because Arsenal imploded. Plus, I just don't see "it" with Ashley Young at all. Decent player who may continue to develop, but right now I can't see what's so special about him.
  22. Babel's a better player than Walcott though. Not that I'm wholly convinced by Babel, just I really fail to see the fuss about Walcott other than the fact he's fast and scored three goals against a Croatian defence that was all at sea. He disappears from games more than Babel (which is saying something) and has a similar knack of making the wrong decisions, running down blind alleys, and not concentrating enough, leading to miscontrolling simple balls and skewing easy passes.
  23. Doubt it'll stop Ronaldo throwing tantrums at his own team mates, though.
