  1. Would go a long way to explaining why all of Salah, Robbo and even Ali are being let go, if they’re keeping Slot, that is.
  2. At least Edwards will have “more data” next year when the players are still unable to run.
  3. Be mad to have the squad’s entire leadership group bar VvD leave in one summer. Standards have already slipped horribly.
  4. Maybe the players are pissed off at the days off because they love the free coffee and yoga.
  5. Yep. We’ve all forgotten our excitement at signing Isak and Wirtz because neither they nor their teammates can run. Might as well sign me.
  6. Think if Slot oversees another season of the squad being physically undercooked, the summer signings will be largely irrelevant.
  7. Aye. They’d lost two (Atleti and Celta) and drawn three in the league. Won the rest. Also lost to LFC and City in the CL and to Barca in that Supercup thing, despite beating the latter in the league. They were doing better than imagined even if the squad was throwing a collective tantrum over being asked to do work, rather than doing what they wanted as they had done under Zidane and Ancelotti.
  8. Haha, yeah. Like the claims they only knew Klopp was the right choice after they ran the numbers on his last season at Dortmund and saw based on performances that they should have had a better season than they did and it was all bad luck. Sure lads, that was the dealbreaker, not the fact he was obviously one of the best coaches in the world.
  9. Depends on whether either of the young lads has it in them to command a defence. Apparently Jacquet has been the middle CB in a three this season, which suggests an organising role, while Leoni seems like he could be pretty commanding already for a teenager. Wouldn't pin all of my hopes on that because they're so young, but Saliba stepped up into that kind of role at a young age, so it's not impossible.
  10. I’d say spot the difference but one has a lot more hair than the other.
  11. Was defo trying to spur the team on and working really hard. Think it's in his interest to have a strong end to the season because I'm not sure many European clubs want to pick up his 400k a week tab even on a free, and don't think he wants Saudi or MLS.
  12. But imagine this place on September 1st, 2025 if we hadn't signed him. Just picture it.
  13. I reckon you could Photoshop in a pic of my belly in place of one of his boobs.
  14. Looks really good in his clips (who doesn't?) and is a red apparently, or at least he says his dad is.
  15. Defo. It's good news. I'd assume he won't have another season like this one with proper competition and rotation options, and we don't know if the situation with his dad was a longer term thing that was affecting him. Leoni and Jacquet are young, but Konate had only just turned 22 when he came to us. Jacquet will turn 21 in July.
  16. Yep, not judging anyone based on this season because I don't think any of them are fit enough to play PL football except maybe Szoboszlai, who's a physical freak.
  17. I do find I become less experienced with time.
  18. He's a very talented player and there are all the Slotball and lack of squad fitness caveats, but I'm beginning to worry he's just not built for the PL. He gets caught on the ball so much and/or underhits things so often, but then in the next minute he does something really good that reminds you of what he could be (that punched through ball to Gakpo today, for example). Worth persevering with under a new coach because if we can unlock his talent, he could become one of the best in Europe, but there's a part of me that thinks if Bayern said they'd deal on Olise if he were part of the deal, I'd take that. We can't have spent that much money for a lad who only really looks comfortable playing in CL games.
  19. The weirdest part of that mystery is that Gimenez was really successful at Feyenoord under him. Not sure if he was just super efficient in front of goal or something, because our No9 under Slot never touches the ball unless he drops off to go looking for it (Diaz, Ekitike). Nunez went from being a lad who was always in the thick of the action but missed loads of chances to being a lad who missed the few chances he got and was otherwise anonymous.
  20. Defeats against City and PSG don’t count because they’re good apparently.
  21. Exactly my reaction. Maybe if the players had the requisite fitness and conditioning to play PL instead of Eredivisie football, we wouldn’t have a problem.
  22. And the shortlist spat out by the computer after those two years: Michael Edwards.
  23. It's amazing how he's become a "serious" source of information.
  24. If a journalist with access to information not coming directly from the club publishes or shares that information when the club doesn't want it out there, that journalist loses his or her access with the club, meaning one story costs multiple future ones. Transfer journalism isn't Woodward and Bernstein, it's a symbiotic relationship between journalists, clubs and agents. There are no "scoops", just what clubs and agents want putting out at the time that best suits them.
