I found myself hoping Mo would make one of his jaunts into the mixed zone last night. He’s not worried about his LFC future anymore so he might as well say what he really thinks now.
-
If real, that quote is embarrassing. PSG are a really good team, but they’re not the f***ing terminator. I get that Slot is a massive PSG/Enrique stan whose whole schtick is basically cribbing ideas from the other coaches he worships and piecing them together, but he’s come a long way from what he was saying about LFC’s standards and level last season if that’s really what he thinks. Just need this season to be over because we as a club can’t afford to be infected long term by the malaise that’s set in and this line of thinking, or we’re heading back to being a club that aspires to finish top four every season.

That’s exactly it. May as well have fielded 11 mannequins. -

It was a 2-0 thrashing. This thing is so over. You could see the players had no faith in whatever the “plan” was. Have been against the idea of an interim, and pretty much still am, but there’s no point in Slot being here if that’s the level of performance we’re going to see until the end of the season. Everyone has checked out and given up. -

He defo used a back three and didn’t field Salah on occasion, yeah. -
The question is whether he wants one. Seems quite settled in the Netherlands.
-
To be honest, I think the truth is probably something closer to that than these supposedly data-led guys making a snap decision based only on games vs City and PSG. Only this briefing is what Edwards would call “noise”.
-
Or ever. Pretty sure Alonso doesn’t need to become Michael Beale to progress his career.
-
Maybe he wants the away fans to wave more Greater Hungary flags like they do when he plays for the national team.
-
Suspect he’s been to Mo’s guy in Turkey. Been rocking a bit of a combover all season.

Tired of this saga now. Don’t really care either way beyond, if he goes, we have to spend money and energy on replacing him when there is work to be done elsewhere. If he stays, great, he’s an excellent player on his day and his bad performances become less of a headache if there is genuine competition and we have rotation options. The injuries seem to have been mostly dealt with. But if he goes, good luck to him. His going wouldn’t be a disaster, just a logistical annoyance.

This is it. How can they expect to get him PL match fit when all the lads who actually had a preseason can only last 70min? And then only if they conserve their energy throughout the match. Great yoga though. Top flat whites.
-
They’re w***ers. I don’t care how many trophies they have.
-
Y'know, maybe there is something in that. Who knows if there is maybe some kind of clause allowing for a smaller payout if he doesn't meet some kind of minimum requirement. All of our player contracts are incentive-based so why not the coach too? Sacked Del Bosque for "just" winning the league in 2003 after winning the CL in 2002 and 2000, and the league in 2001.
-
It's not corruption, it's long term incompetence.
-
Don't think that's what he means. I think if it becomes mathematically impossible to finish in the CL spots before the end of the season, they'll fire him and install a placeholder for the last few games. But as long as we're in contention, he'll be given the rest of the season and then fired. Think by this point he can only save his job by winning the CL, and that's very unlikely to happen.
-
Yep. If they don't give Slot an extension, the question throughout next season will be whether he stays beyond 2027 or not, and there's no way that wouldn't have an effect on the squad. I mean, if the rumours of players not being thrilled with Slot this year are true, that will have a bigger effect than anything, but y'know. I honestly think there is a lot of projection that goes on among fans with these guys simply because they have an odd way of working and don't say anything. Nature abhors a vacuum.
-
Outside of some miraculous CL win, there's no way they keep him. The team has been an underperforming, unfit, disorganised rabble all season bar the odd game against opposition who're set up favourably to how Slot wants to play. And unlike in Klopp's worst seasons, Slot hasn't found a solution in adversity. They'll be aware of fan sentiment, not least because people are starting to walk out or not even come. This is all a dance. They haven't extended his contract and it seems probable Alonso only wants to start in summer. They'd be mad or stupid to keep Slot after this season, and despite the temptation of fans to think otherwise and to fill the vacuum they leave by not saying anything other than offering off-the-record platitudes to beat journos, they're actually neither. There are only a handful of coaches who can get us competing at the top table, and Alonso looks like he could be one of them – an elite coach with LFC connections who will only be on the market this summer. Exactly. We can weather one bad season and bounce back. We did under Klopp. Make that two and suddenly the rebuild needs a rebuild and the top names start to wonder if LFC is a top-level destination after all.
-
This is it. Ornstein and all the UK beat journos have to toe the party line or they’ll lose future access. So the party line is no change and will probably remain the case up to the moment they sack him at the end of the season. And then all the journos will do their insider piece on how Slot lost the faith of the club as the season wore on, how it wasn’t just supporter unrest, but players unhappy with training and tactics etc. And everyone will pretend they didn’t spend months saying the club was backing its man.

That said, be “eyebrow-raising” if Richard Hughes now goes and signs him on a free for Al Hilal.
-
Yeah, that raised an eyebrow.
-
Don’t think anyone in Europe pays a fee and his salary, and don’t think he wants Saudi.
-
Yeah, I think he’ll leave Red Bull in the summer and take the Germany job, with Nagelsmann returning to club football somewhere.
-
Depends on whether you consider coffee and yoga to be work.
-
Nah.
