I personally think Benayoun is a cracking little player, and would be a fantastic addition if we could pinch him on the cheap. As far as 'possibilities' go, he'd be better than a lot of what we already have, with other, more 'prestigious' signings to come no doubt.

Bit of a running theme, but I'm sure the guy "interviewed well" at the FA to get the job.

Didn't Rasiak wear #9? Maybe Defoe is taking that shirt now, because I would have expected Berbatov to get that. Pretty sure Defoe was #9 at West Ham (at least in the his season or so there).

I'd be happy with this signing, moreso than if we got Bent or Bellamy, as has been mooted. Always thought Defoe is a cracking little player. And as someone mentioned, the fact he's had a poor season will have only served to shave a couple of mil off his transfer fee. Good work - I'm pretty confident that with regular games and Rafa's touch he'd be a quality player for us. Playing-wise, for me he's very similar to Eto'o (and no, I'm not saying he is or even will be as good), and given Rafa has coveted Eto'o on several occasions in the past, I can see this working out very well. IMO, of course.

Just to stir the pot some more (from this month's FourFourTwo)... I was a Liverpool fan, because my dad followed them. I wasn't alive during their golden era, but I enjoyed watching the likes of Michael Owen, Robbie Fowler and Steve McManaman. When Liverpool won the Champions League, I went mad. I was shouting so loud I think I woke up the entire village!

Cole is pretty poor crosser of the ball. Wouldn't know that by just watching Arsenal, 'cause they hardly ever use crosses. But watching England where Cole has to cross it, he has a tendancy to hit the first man and such.

Evra is very good.
