  1. Eight games left and we're on course for a 62-point season (average 1.63 ppg). If we win all our remaining games we'll have 73.
  2. We should never have loaned him from Jesus.
  3. It would be good if Knox still posted here, as I think he's a really interesting and smart fella, but I imagine he's quite busy these days.
  4. Assuming Robbo and Gomez leave and Ibou stays, we should be looking at someone who can play across the back, or at least two of LB/RB/CB, not someone who is exclusively a LB, RB or CB. Doesn’t have to be amazing, just versatile and competent. Geertruida or similar would do. Would help us in an injury crisis and free up a spot on the bench for a more attacking option.
  5. I wouldn't say that. Other than the speed and dribbling ability and intense pressing of their forwards, the control and passing ability they have from their three midfielders and their world class full-backs, I think you'll find both teams field 11 human beings and are therefore very similar.
  6. Plus even after the initial adrenaline of coming back into the team and playing well after losing his dad, that grief will still be with him. He played badly in Istanbul but we should still be trying to renew his deal and bolster the squad with real competition (which hopefully Jacquet and Leoni will be).
  7. Paul’s choice would be an enormous dark void out of which no life nor matter can escape. And if Hughes and Edwards can’t find that void in their WyScout database, they’re the ones who should be fired out of that cannon.
  8. But no trophies at Spurs, which would have been a closer equivalent to winning at Leverkusen than PSG, and that was back when he looked like an up and coming coach. Either way, he'll be back at Spurs in the summer if they don't go down – and Spurs are welcome to him.
  9. Yeah, throwing out the stat that he’s got the joint best record after 100 games only magnifies the fact his and our performance has fallen through the floor. He’s crawled to a record it looked like he would smash.
  10. Was gonna say. When he's on it, he's brilliant. But when his head goes, pffft.
  11. If that is the case, I would hope and expect Arsenal to get found out somewhere along the line in the CL. This season has obviously been s*** because we've been s***, but my god, the sort of crap that has been served up across the PL makes "s*** on a stick" look like Brazil 1982.
  12. If the Konate handball hadn't been disallowed, it would have been the most PL 2025-26 goal of the season.
  13. I didn't realise I had to limit it to recent times. Okay, in the last two seasons the following players have extended their contracts: Quansah, Salah, Van Dijk, Bradley, Ngumoha, Gakpo and Gravenberch. Last season, we failed to get TAA to sign another extension. This season, we might not get Konate to sign an extension and we might let Robertson leave on a free. If we are extending this "recency bias" into the future, Alisson, Van Dijk, Salah, Gomez, Jones and Endo are out of contract in summer 2027; Chiesa, Szoboszlai, Mac Allister and Ngumoha in 2028. On this, I don't have a crystal ball, but it's still a fact that more of the players we want to keep sign an extension than those who leave when offers are on the table (off the top of my head: Can, Wijnaldum, TAA, Firmino).
  14. Among others, the following have at some point signed a contract extension while at LFC, some more than once: Alisson, Gomez, Fabinho, Van Dijk, Milner, Salah, TAA, Henderson, Mane, Robertson, Origi, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Matip, Lallana, Jones, Kelleher, Elliott, Jota, Gakpo, Tsimikas, Bradley, Ngumoha, Quansah, Gravenberch But other than that, what have the Romans ever done for us?
  15. It isn't? I'd say more players sign contract extensions with us than don't.
  16. Great news. Still only 23, the youngest of the four midfielders we signed that summer under Klopp, so still plenty of room for development. Hope we can get the others sorted next.
  17. This is a sizzling hot take, Paul.
  18. Haha, Dickie Hughes at the presser following Slot's sacking: "We were prepared to give Arne another season, but then I had a quick look at ynwa.tv, saw all the moaning and realised I had to do something."
  19. You genuinely believe they'd keep on a coach and sporting director they no longer want for the sake of saving a few million quid by letting them see out their contracts? TAA. We're desperately lacking someone who can open teams up with long passes from deep. Wharton might be a solution to that, although I'd worry his lack of mobility might compound our existing problems in central midfield.
  20. Would make sense, and maybe that job would allow him to still coach without burning himself out. But I reckon he’d find international football tedious.
  21. FWIW there is chatter that Klopp might be leaving Red Bull in summer and is hankering for a return to coaching.
  22. So he'll be staying then, short of Bayern renewing their interest for some reason or other.
  23. Plus all the chat about Slot getting a new contract wouldn’t have gone stone dead earlier in the season if they were pleased with what they’re seeing. If they really believed in him and thought he’d been dealt a rough hand, they’d have extended his contract anyway. He’ll have a year left in summer.
  24. Worked under a similar structure at Leverkusen though, and this way of organising a club is standard in Spain.
