i wish i was surprised about the bedlam witnessed the other night. but its something i've witnessed throughout my professional life - management insisting that because they've put policies in place that everything will be / is fine. not understanding or caring that those policies are useless, rather that there back is covered and a box ticked on a piece of paper - so its somebody else's fault. of course liverpool fans rushing the ground, nicking from fellow reds or blagging & fighting should hold their heads in shame and the club hold its hand up and say some bad 'uns tarnished the fine behaviour of the vast majority. however, what led to these 'supporters' thinking they could get away with such behaviour? no turnstiles, poor ticket checks, disparate policing, focusing on corporate clients whilst media hyping the game so fans are desperate to be there - all suggested this could be a disaster. uefa must be held accountable too. hopefully in our more media savvy society, a scapegoating of events can and will be avoided.
