Rio could definitely have been played more this season. Gakpo is consistently atrocious so it probably would have been better for both players to share the load between them. Better still would have been playing Robbo in the left midfield role as he plays there for Scotland anyway and wants more playing time.

Have people who are slagging off Ramsey really not seen him play? He was voted young player of the year in Scotland, voted sports writers young player of the year, called up to the international side and got signed by us. He was a cracking prospect but had a bad problem with his back, got over that, went on loan to get game time, got a bad knee injury which needed an op, eventually got over that, went on loan to Preston and was getting up to speed but then got sick with covid for weeks. By that point Preston were settled with the team so he couldn’t get game time. He’s been really unlucky but to suggest he’s some sort of mug is embarrassing.

I think he’d be great for that role, whatever it is.

This could also in part be due to the dietician’s and sports science people. Not sure if we are still using the same people we had when Klopp was here but someone at the club should be looking at all this stuff.

Weird how Klopp was expected to deliver results and get CL qualification whilst relying on a bunch of random misfits and kids yet people are making all sorts of excuses for poor old Arne and his small bench which does actually have seasoned internationals sitting there.

And we’ll still need the teams above us to drop more points than us.

Which would be a bit strange because by then it’s likely we’ll have no CL football next season and we’ll have next to no money to spend on new players (certainty not another £400 million).

That’s how we’ve often played this season too. With these players. Spent an absolute fortune on this.

Not for scoring goals although that would be a bonus, more for getting forward quickly then getting the ball to Isak. They played well together at Newcastle. Injuries aside, Isak has looked lost up front for us with our slow build up play.

Think we need at least one player like Gordon to get the best out of Isak.

It does feel like the academy has regressed badly since Klopp left. Not sure if it’s due to Slot, the coaching or Hughes / Edwards but it was something to be proud of with the youngsters regularly integrating with the first team and being on the match day bench.

Don’t they just leave everything to Edwards and his chum Hughes though?

The set piece coach has a lot to answer for.

Normally the Germans pronounce 'i' as an English 'e' so the commentator may have been trying to copy this. Think his name should be pronounced Veertz though.
